Solid transmission mount completed. The mount was originally in a drag car so I only needed to modify it a bit (Last picture). If it worked fine for his car, it will work for mine. Now I can get my drive shaft in (that's what she said). ------- Ok, turbo stuff incoming... but I also need to get my transmission in the car and order a new drive shaft. On a different note... I called Wiring Specialties and confirmed that they have a CANbus module coming out for the 370z. What this means is all my factory gauges will work without me trying to map out the CAN signal to my MS3. I'll gladly pay for that. I threw in a couple extra pics. The truck in the picture just had a mega lift completed. It's not a kit. All the tubing was bent using a bender. Heim joints were welded on to the custom tubes. Custom long travel shocks were ordered through Big Shocks (Michigan company). The plates in the middle were laser cut by the same guy that's in process of making my custom oil pan. I can literally stand in the wheel well. Now I don't care for lifted trucks... but I can appreciate the custom work. The car sitting next to mine is a buddy of mine that's racing me to completion. He's doing a custom TT G8. He painted his turbos teal and it's SICK. His car is gonna be wicked when done. Chalk me up for two more fails. Chopped back the manifold but it was way too oval to mess with, so that will be welded back up (not by me). Changing direction, I chopped the AC bracket and AC tab off. Works better when you cut the correct tab ��*♂️. Picked up some metal putty then worked a tab back on. I'll smooth the mountain out after it dries. I'm annoyed and done today. ✌️ ---------------------- I'm still annoyed and don't have much to say other than I'll continue to post all aspects of the build. Proof is below. Note to self, physically mark the item to cut. Man that sucks about the AC compressor, I wish you more luck that I have ever had with epoxy and aluminum. Looks like the bracket is on the outside of a piston bore too so welding is a crap shoot as far as distorting that.

Screw the putty wanna be JB weld. I literally touched the stuff and the tab fell off. The good news is that it looks like it can be welded after I cleaned the compressor and opened it. If that goes sideways... Then I'll be getting a new AC compressor. Annoyed still, but working through it. ----------------- TBH, I'm glad it fell off. I was doing a compromised solution. How is he going to weld it? MIG or TIG?
That bore next to the weld area might get a little out of shape if you get too much heat in that area. I would measure that bore in 2 directions, 90 degrees apart. Take a before and after measurements. |

Put 220# injectors in. Attempted to tie the Holley rails in with the hardware provided. Apparently Holley expected taller injectors because the fuel rail did not work with the braces provided. I'll need to cut the hardware down and drill holes. What else is new. Also, @independenteng came out and is figuring out how to make my custom pan. The flange he cut fits nearly perfect. We had a brief discussion about making a tubular k-member. Anyone interested in a group buy? No, I don't have pricing...yet. Just a quick gauge of interest I was gonna mount my transmission today... But these guys showed up late to the party. (ARP Bolts) --------------- Lessons learned - Injectors are a bitch to put in if you push straight down. They don't like that. What they do like is a little twist motion while pressing in and the go right in. 7 injectors went in faster than it took for the first injector. lol I'm tossing around the idea of working with my buddy to make a tubular front k-member out of chromoly. Hell, maybe I'll get fancy and go for titanium. lol . I posted a feeler on FB and didn't really get much of a response because there's no weight comparison, which would be the main reason for VQ people to swap. I'll probably have to pony up and do it myself and have something concrete before people would even have the slightest interest. I don't blame people either for having a meh attitude either. OE k-member is pretty damn light from what I heard, 30-40lbs. First thing is first, he is finishing my custom pan. Last couple pictures show the fuel rails fitting in nice. Notice the tight fit with the injectors and valve cover breathers. Looks like I will have to clock the back two inward. My fuel pressure regulator is off getting bead blasted and anodized black, yes I know they have black ones; but I'm using what I have. The lines coming off the fuel rails will get cut in half and connected into the FPR. The return line will shoot directly back, nice and clean. Unfortunately I have to stop all build activities for a week or so because I have a major certification looming. ... I actually should be studying for that right now...
