Awesome build man i just looked through all the pages, do you get clunking noises from the solid diff mounts and z1 tranny mount?

madwi 09-30-2019 06:45 AM

There is definitely a bit of clunk. Gonna see how it all plays together when the cjm engine mounts go in.

I hear the 1st to 2nd, and the 2nd to 3rd clunk if I'm taking it easy.

Hotrodz 09-30-2019 03:59 PM

I think mine is rear axle clunk!

I think mine is either strut bar knocking on the hood (bar is aftermarket on a G) or I have some part of turbo piping that knocks against the subframe or undershroud. I’ve hunted and used nothing short of 75-100 zip ties securing and placing padding between stuff with no luck. I just live with it.

I going to have Seb look into it when I take the car to him.

I really think it would take taking all the intercooler piping off to try and see if it’s been rubbing/knocking anywhere. **** that noise. Just drive it until it blows up!

My man! Agreed!!! It only bother me when I drive on the street. I don't hear it at the track. I a sports car noise is part of the deal kind of like a blown motor if you are driving it like it meant to be driven.

LOL, you get a whole new level of vibration. It doesn't bother me much at all. You will hear the starter more and you will tickle your feet.

I have several different set of Swift springs at different spring rates so let me know when you may want to make an adjustment.

Anytime you modify a car you will pick up nosies. **** I had leather added to the truck and not one seat rattles.

Gave a ride to EW's buddy this morning and then cleaned her up a bit. It was a great day to be outside in the garage. Amazing weather for this time of year and I plan to soak it all up before it turns cold.

Probably don’t want one until 2022. Let them work the kinks out of a brand new first time mid-engine car.

Having did my share of reading about the new mid engine LT2 C8 Corvette and almost purchased one myself I know GM will have problems with their mid engine design as well as carrying on their tradition with drivetrain issues and needing to be upgraded by the customer. Also I would expect these mid engine LT2’s to have motor oil consumption issues. I am happy I held off on getting a Corvette as my Z is overall a lot more reliable and dependable to own comparing to the Corvette good luck. GM thought they had a better idea? I would rather purchase a GTR instead and support Nissan.

A base Vette and a G-TR aren’t the same price range. That’s like saying I don’t think I’d be happy with this $100 jacket, I’d rather buy the $200 one.

Wasn’t familiar with that particular individual. Moron status noted. :tiphat:

The maintenance schedule on it is for a trust fund baby. It's worse then a GTR.

Time will tell us what the issues are going to be and then I can decide if I can live with them, fix them with aftermarket or not care. I might ruffle a few feathers here but I don't like the looks of a GTR at all. For that kind of money the car better look good and perform well, not one or the other.
I have never owned a mid engine vehicle before and would love to cross it off the list. The 'vette is definitely in the right price range and to me, it is very easy on the 'ol peepers.

Keep your Z and add a Corvette to the stable. That's not a bad choice. LOL I passed on the GTR also. GTR tax sucks. You will still have a Corvette tax, but it is no where near as bad. I was thinking of a 911 Turbo S for myself.
