I've been there and hiked to the falls. I went last autumn after a lot of the leaves had fallen, and it still looked pretty. I bet it will be great in the summer with all the leaves in place. Nice lake area also. Cunningham Falls has my vote.

Great deal, I'm in for the month of August. Good stuff B1adessss

That's awesome Bertaut! I honestly don't even know much about the place. We just went to the one area to eat for the GT-R cruise and that's all I saw. Would be nice to get some group activities organized to take full axvantage of the opportunity. I think a cruise and a hike to the falls would be awesome. I know I'd want to do both.

Sales@AAMComp 05-31-2013 11:24 PM

haha just drove to Gettysburg, PA and saw signs for this place.. solid hike but it should make for a fun caravan out

eastwest2300 06-01-2013 02:10 PM

No way, is it possible that we'll see birdman for this event?!?!?? What the hell..

If I remember correctly, the hike is about 1 mile round trip. Some elevation change, but you don't have to wear hiking boots for it.

Well folks, looks like we have another decision to make. I think we can declare Cunningham Falls the official location for this year's BBQ, but there are 2 separate areas of the park where we can setup. The Manor Visitor Center is the sheltered picnic area where we ate for the GT-R cruise. It is kind of on the outside border of the park and about 5-10 mins from the main park area. The picnic area in the main part of the park (by the lake and the falls) is on a first-come first-serve basis and there are no sheltered areas there.

Since everyone wants to go hiking and go see the falls, I think we'd be better off setting up by the lake. If we set up awnings like we had at the College Park meet, I think we'd be ok with shade.

eastwest2300 06-01-2013 04:27 PM

Nice... done deal duuude, make it work!

I agree with the location.

I have no idea how busy it gets there, but we may want to try and get there earlier rather than later. I feel like this is going to be like a full day event now.

who cares duude.. it'll be fun.

b1adesofcha0s 06-01-2013 08:36 PM

I meant it's going to be more fun for the whole day. Get set up there in the morning, then a nice cruise, hike to the falls, and bbq.

eastwest2300 06-01-2013 09:02 PM

Im in just for the food.. haha... yall can have all that other stuff.

Vicster 06-01-2013 09:26 PM

Is anyone going to want to cruise from the DC area to the Falls that morning? Or are we going to just do a meet there kinda thing?

The way blades explained it today at the meet, after arriving and eating we could take a small cruise in the area. I wouldn't want to be the one to open a bottle of soda after a spirited cruise.

eastwest2300 06-02-2013 07:25 AM

They usually cruise in a group to the area, as for me, I'm always late so show up whenever.

RandyD 06-02-2013 09:21 AM

i'll be happy to plot out a little local cruize route...

yup.. this is true.

b1adesofcha0s 06-02-2013 12:42 PM

Yeah we can definitely have a caravan to the BBQ area. A cruise to the park wouldn't make sense with most of us carrying stuff in our cars. Cruising during or after the bbq would be nice. Thanks for organizing it Randy!

eastwest2300 06-02-2013 01:37 PM

Keep in mind fellas, Randy's cruises are road trips.. sooo fill up!

b1adesofcha0s 06-02-2013 06:57 PM

I'm gonna bring/make some kabobs for you guys. Gotta learn how to make them from my mom first though :icon17:

I think I'll bring some stuff to make a few sriracha burgers for those that like a little bit of spice.

We ought to compile a list of things we'll need so everyone pitches in.

XwChriswX 06-02-2013 07:50 PM

Imma make sure to bring plenty of:

I can bring chips. I don't have any special recipes for grilling, so chips are probably safer.

b1adesofcha0s 06-02-2013 08:01 PM

At some point I will get a list going of who is bringing what and what we still need. I think I'm gonna officially declare the BBQ for August 17th at Cunningham Falls.

b1adesofcha0s 06-02-2013 08:14 PM

Alright guys, I have updated the first post with details for the event. I started keeping a list of everyone who will be attending and what they're going to bring. If you know what you want to bring let me know and I'll put it on the list. If not, then just let me know that you will be attending and we can figure it out later.

eastwest2300 06-02-2013 08:18 PM

No problem guys, I just want this to be the best MAZOC BBQ yet. Dee, can I put you on the list to bring some chicken/wings?

I have an idea, let me know what you think.

How about we gather a list of some things we "need/want" as well and put it on the first post? This may help... people like me... who have no clue what they might want to bring. I guess we could just mark them off as we go?

Side note - I read Sriracha burgers on the first post and almost lost my mind.... and now I'm hungry...again..

Put me on that list! I already blocked it off on my calendar!

b1adesofcha0s 06-02-2013 08:24 PM

You could always marinate the wings in the sauces and then just throw them on the grill the day of the BBQ.

Yeah I'm gonna do that later on. For now I'll let people who know what they want to bring do so.
