It may be worth your while to pursue internships in your chosen field before you get out of school. I don't know, though.

Couldn't have said it better. That's def the advice to follow. The school and degree you earn as well as any practical internships/experience/certificate (in your field of study) hold tremendous value and will make a difference in yours starting salary in comparison to other candidates

Thanks Dee. I don't know about wise but I've blessed in my career because I listened to the advice of great mentors who went through the ring. I'm enjoying the fruits of their advice now

I also listened to Steve's advice by subscribing to Kiplinger and buying stocks when high, selling when cheap LOL. Gonna be a millionaire in a jiffy baby !!

BTW can I borrow $10,000 I have this great investment idea and I SWEAR it will work this time! They said I could limit my risk by selling a put and selling a call. I don't even have to own the stock! How great is that?

Doing more than just getting your degree in college is huge. Any clubs or organizations you can join that will help you gain practical experience will be very valuable come interview time. You have to be able to differentiate yourself from the rest.

I still plan on doing internships, whether they be through the school or sought out on my own. I want to Work, not just school. Also, if I did happen to transfer to a 4 year school, 99.9% of them do not have a "Paralegal" 4 year degree, which is the program I'm in now for an Associates. So I would most likely have to change my major, which if I keep taking Paralegal classes, there is no guarantee they will transfer. That's one of the list of questions I have to ask.

Most do however offer a "Pre-Law" Minor that can be attached to another Major to prepare you for law school should I decide to go that route. But it is in addition to your Bachelors in something else. And what that will give me is access to all the 3 letter agencies and government services I couldn't do with just a 2 year degree.

What that does for me is then if I were to get hired by one of them, my 8 years of military service would count towards my retirement so I would in all actuality only have to work with them for 12 years to get a full retirement vs 20.

Absolutely. I fully believe this, if I were to stay with my current program, you can have 2 internships as electives. Either 2 with the same place, or 2 at different places. I planned on fully taking advantage of these.

That's what I'm doing right now, the Honors Society is doing that for me. There is apparently a History Club at school as well, but I as of yet have not been able to find any other information on it other than "it exists". So I must continue to search for a billboard or pamphlet or advising professor somewhere.
