Good news, and I'm sure it's nice to have resolution.

Questions about this process:
-Do they factor in aftermarket stuff you have on the car?
-Do they let you remove aftermarket parts?

Yes and yes

The adjuster asked me for receipts for my parts. I did not have those, but I was able to contact Z1 and ModBargains to give me their old invoices. I estimated a few things from cash sales and DIY's.

I have the option, even right now, to go and recover pieces from the vehicle.

That said, if they're factoring in your oil cooler, for example, into the payout, I don't know if they'll let you go into the body shop with a few wrenches and pull it back off the vehicle. I don't know whether they will or will not.

It is, but I'd rather have my car back :roflpuke2:

haha, indeed

She was my baby.

But time to get my check, pay off the subie, and start plotting for the future, which probably involves 8 burbling cylinders and 7 liters.

I already got my shift knob and a bunch of other things out. I'll probably leave the rest as it is.

I'll eventually start selling or giving away some of the remaining good parts.

Nice! Is that for the car itself or with mods?

Car with mods. I included the wheels, oil cooler, the leather seats, the intakes, and the brake kit. Although it was a raffle, Z1 was able to provide me an exact invoice for the kit. While it was a prize, it had a cash value.

dmhenderson 04-02-2013 05:19 PM

Assuming they subtract out the price of a mod if you remove it otherwise, you could clean up ;)

lol, well not really. The brakes and wheels would be very hard to sell. 3 wheels, 3 rotors, 3 calipers... Know anyone with a trike?

The oil cooler MAY be functional, or maybe not, and I don't know about the lines or the way it mounts. Didn't look good.

dmhenderson 04-02-2013 05:25 PM

I meant things like the head unit, intake, exhaust

dmhenderson 04-02-2013 05:31 PM

Bummer. Definitely take a souvenir. I kept one of the shattered side blinker emblems when the deer hit me.

Dude, getting the stock shift knob off the vehicle was a B*tch

I had to use a strap wrench, and it crushed the stock knob. I didn't even want to replace it. I was just trying to replace the stock black leather with my own wine leather. But when that happened, I decided to go aftermarket.

I tore both of mine in half (like through the aluminum thread). Used a pipe wrench to grib the knob. Wrapped the shifter in a towel and had a buddy hold it steady with another pipe wrench to keep from torquing the gearbox.

Edit: Actually come to think of it, we managed to get it off the 2nd Z without tearing it in half but we still ripped the leather up pretty badly.

Sales@AAMComp 04-03-2013 11:33 AM

so is anyone coming out to Columbia on Sat?

Sales@AAMComp 04-03-2013 11:34 AM

only asking because there's a small NGC Lunch Meet at Matchbox (pizza joint) in Rockville at 1

dmhenderson 04-03-2013 09:42 PM

I think I'll go this week. Headlight mod rescheduled for next thurs.

XwChriswX 04-04-2013 01:45 AM

You should come on the Troll Cruise Khoi

:stirthepot:

4r3s 04-04-2013 06:39 AM

I'm iffy on the columbia meet, and a nope on the cruise. I want to get my summer wheels back on the car and I really need to clean my air filters but more or less dreading ripping the front fascia off again. yeah I know its not hard, just time would be a lot easier with a second set of hands.

yeah I missed that post too. I usually just go to my usercp and just look at new posts in threads i've subscribed to so I sometimes miss new stuff in the mid-a section. Seems like there should be a way to just subscribe to mid -a branch to be notified of new posts.

Yeah, it's always better to have two people to lift it off after the clips are popped. Likewise with putting it back on. Although I managed just fine back when I installed my oil cooler block off plate.

Cristobal09 04-04-2013 07:41 AM

Yeah. Unless you want to scrape the nose on the ground.

You can do it alone by laying a ton of towels down in front of it but I wouldn't recommend it.

That's exactly what I do.

Edit: Gainesville? Lol no thanks. It would take me over an hour just to get to the cruise start location and over 3 hrs to get home.

Sales@AAMComp 04-04-2013 08:08 AM

I always loosen both sides as much as possible, as in pop everything out near under the headlights without having them hang on the ground, then pull from the middle
