Hey I'm planning to get tuned at Hill's Next month what maps are you guys running? Does frank have the latest throttle maps or should I bring them to him? I'm guessing Hill's is the placed to get dyno tuned.

MightyBobo 09-15-2014 10:04 AM

Is simply clearing a code/unplugging a battery really that unknown? I've done that several times for cars - my Z included (which was reading P0420, indeed), and my wife's Camry (same thing, oddly enough).

I thought EVERYONE did that...

jpkirk 09-15-2014 10:19 AM

I have not been there yet. Soon as I figure out where the evap system is leaking on my truck, I will though.

Guys have tried that in Va, but the few people that ive known still failed emissions and they didnt have CEL's either.

The tester hooked it up and it said that the rear o2 sensors were listed as "not ready" or something like that, so they failed.

Judging by my results, along w/ Shahid - if he's testing in MD, he'll probably be fine.

It's all just a stupid cash grab anyway.

We should be able to clear the codes without disconnecting the battery with the ODB device. I can control it from my phone or laptop.

This is the ODB adapter I bought

OBDLink MX Bluetooth Scan Tool

And here is the software I have for my phone

Torque

Frank has everything you will ever need.

I'll check yours out on Saturday. If I like it, I"ll pick one up.

GM_Traitor3.5 09-15-2014 02:31 PM

Well had a "meet" on Saturday in Fair Lakes with Emily and Ray (white 13 or 14 SP/T I think?). Two Z's and two 5.0's.

Weaksauce... we can do better than this.

Ok the phone software website you linked there looks awesome but they don't tell you the name of the program exactly.

In the app store when I search for "torque" I get:
Engine Link OBD II vehicle moitoring made by "K Solution LLC"

and

OBD Fusion by OCTech LLC

Edit: Never mind. It's only for android. Is there a solid equivalent for iOS?

Hmmm, I bet there is but I don't know what it would be. You may be better served by the WiFi version of the scan tool since it works in the iOS environment. The MX version that I have is bluetooth and does not work with iOS. Unfortunately, it is not available until November, if then. It will come with OBDLink that should work on your iPhone, but does not appear to work for a Mac. They have a Windows package but that is it.

Edit: The two models are MX bluetooth and MX WiFi

dmhenderson 09-15-2014 03:36 PM

I'll have to keep looking. I'll ask Frank (tuner frank, not dog, not Presto). I bet he has a suggestion.

I like the performance monitoring stuff it does. Really would love something like that for my phone.

See you Saturday though. Definitely want to be sure I'm not throwing codes before I go do the emissions thing.

It used to be so active. I went two times in a row and only one or two other people were there. So now I only go when more than three or so confirm.

Asheth 09-15-2014 04:13 PM

Saturday is a possible go if the weather is good. It's suppose to be sunny all week to include Saturday. If I lived closer I wouldn't mind the drive even if turn out isn't good but it's a hour min drive for me so I'm playing with fire lol. DM said he is in so I want to see his car so I'll be there regardless.

Edit: that sounded flaky at the beginning lol. I'll definitely be there Saturday.

dmhenderson 09-15-2014 04:17 PM

I'm gonna take Friday off and do the full clay bar/8 hour ordeal paint treatment. I'll be there saturday for sure.

Also, picked up an (overpriced) OBD2 / iOS combo from Innovate. Got a pretty good deal from RT Tuning.

Pisses me off since I already have an uprev license but what're you gonna do?
At least it matches my gauges.

jlw2546 09-15-2014 08:19 PM

I'm in if weather is good.

MightyBobo 09-15-2014 10:17 PM

Columbia this week?

Asheth 09-15-2014 11:48 PM

Yea columbia

Do come if Mark's in. His car is gorgeous.

Edit: come no matter what; the people are great. Mark's car is a thing of beauty, though.

I'll make my best effort to be there

jpkirk 09-16-2014 11:44 AM

That's nice of you to say. I'm going to give it a little TLC on Fri. Meet on sat and then I have a show on sun

I dont see why I cant make it, at the moment.

jpkirk 09-16-2014 01:10 PM

Nothing like living in the moment. How many ft lbs of torque on your arm would it take to get you there?

:rofl2:

dmhenderson 09-16-2014 01:37 PM

Here's the OBD2 solution I went with (not the price I paid):
Innovate Motorsports OT-2 - Transform your iPhone or iPod into a wireless gauge, data logger, dyno, efficiency meter and OBDII scan tool.

It kinda rules.

Asheth 09-16-2014 02:18 PM

Looks interesting have you tested it's dyno function?

dmhenderson 09-16-2014 02:20 PM

It shipped today so no. I'm betting the dyno function isn't super accurate but I will be able to tell pretty quickly since I know the car's numbers on a Dyno Dynamics.

I bet they can do some neat stuff with GPS/WiFi though...
The quarter trap times will be accurate as will the accel, etc.

Asheth 09-16-2014 02:32 PM

I might pick this up thanks for sharing

dmhenderson 09-16-2014 03:59 PM

I'll have it at the meet on sat if you want to check it out.

He required emergency abdominal surgery, but he came home on Sunday and is recovering. Thanks for asking :)
