MD won't issue a carry permit unless you have "good and substantive reason" which means only friends of the Sheriff ever get a permit. No luck for anyone else.

Gonna assume that E/W posted a picture of his Halo gun in this thread but "HEY DO YOU GUYS LIKE GUNS" was followed by him running out of his bedroom with what I can only describe as a video game gun that shoots very large bullets.

Lousy pic but here's where I'm at:

I have a Magpul MBUS Gen 2 rear sight on the way so I've got something if the Aimpoint fails.

Now I just need to figure out what type of sling I want.

IMHO, you want a padded VCAS. QD swivels mounted one end on the left rear of the handgrip (Mount n' Slot - IWC) and the other mounted on a QD endplate or rear of your stock if it has a socket. I prefer rear of stock on opposite side because I've found that the rifle hangs better, it sweeps away better for transitions to pistol, and it's easier for transition to weak hand shooting.

Slings are one of those items, like holsters, that most shooters diddle around with for years continually trying to find just the right setup. This is what my 20 years of diddling around has evolved to. So far.

But you know what I mean. With airsoft I did a lot of running around in the woods and had to manipulate the weapon and sling a lot, so I have a feel for how they function.
