Fine by me. It's going to be too hot & too far to be drinking & driving.

I plan on bringing some iced tea.
Looks like every thing else is pretty much covered.
Are there any last minute items we "need".

Sounds delicious! JPKirk vs Gordon Ramsay, score: JpKirk 1, Ramsay 0. JpKirk winner!

Ran through and updated the list of what people are bringing. I'm flying to LA tomorrow and will be back on Friday night. I'll check in and see what other random things we might need and try to bring them along. Not sure how much I'll be able to carry (depends on if I'm driving or riding.)

I'm going to plan on getting to the place relatively early, probably around 9ish, maybe sooner.

I'm also bringing Grill Utensils, camp stove (if anyone needs to heat something up), foil, cups/plates & a collapsible 5 gallon water container to use for clean up & put out embers when over - "YOU TOO CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES"- (LOL, fire fighter 24/7)

Ha, ha, ha! Very funny! And true too ! I've begun getting my ingredients, spices, peppers & other stuff together today too. Tomorrow morning I'll pick up the Free Range boneless chicken breast and start them in my own blend of Mesquite marinade early (about 04:00hr) on Saturday morning.

Oh yes I take pride in my cooking. There's a window of time for my marinade; if you marinade it too long of time the meat comes out mealy ; too short of time and the meat doesn't have time to absorb the proper amount of flavor. I've been fine tuning my recipe over 6 years now.

I'm going to bring a couple of the grates from my grills to for us to use over top the park grill grates. Those park grill grates get a little funky & rusty over time! And food tends to stick to them.

Gonna go pick up some boneless chicken after work today and let it marinate till the bbq tomorrow morning. How many lbs do you guys think I should get? Not really sure what would be too much or not enough for this many people, especially since others are bringing various meats as well.

KoolKarmaJoe 07-31-2015 08:05 AM

I'm not familiar with the area where BBQ is being held and wanted to avoid 495 & RT 66. I was thinking of taking I-70 to RT 340 (Stonewall Jackson Hwy). Anyone familiar with RT 340? How is it? (traffic, smooth ride?).

I picked up 16lbs of Free Range, Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breast (20 Breasts), that I'll be fixing Mesquite Style. You can never have enough meat, LOL. :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

340 is not bad. I took that route back to Olney, MD from the Winchester autox event last weekend. Some areas slow due to traffic and lights but generally it's a smooth run ... if a little boring. But we're headed to an event so ...

I do not know what it is like south of Winchester.

Kim and I are taking 70 to Frederick as well, and then going south. Avoiding 495 like the plague, longer distance be damned.

eastwest2300 07-31-2015 09:40 AM

I'll be taking 495 to 66, but I'd think if its somewhat early in the morning, the traffic shouldnt be there.. (hopefully)
