that's a tough call.

my weds came matte gunmetal, but i decided to like them a tad more glossy than matte, so it's like a semi-gloss/satin finish per my polishing/sealant technique.

one of the reasons why i did the semi-gloss is because the reflection highlights the wheel making the wheel appear bigger to offset the smaller apperance of darker wheels.

wheels appear smaller when darker color... and having no reflection/highlights makes them look even smaller.

that matte looks satin. i would do the satin, not gloss.

if it was flat like really plasti-shitt flat, i would do the gloss instead.

Agreed.
Those matte finish wheels look more satin than "flat".
And the gloss aren't all "that" glossy either LOL! I was expecting something more like the "hyper" finish that was big in the early-mid 2000's.

And who said they didn't know about shiny wheels on a white car?
RAYS Mercury Silver with machined accents seems to work just fine out of the box
