Haha... Houston is so fun. I've not been back there since the break up. Last time I was there, it was with my ex to visit her family and pick up my car from Baker.

BTW... what are some good hang out spots for late 20s to 30s people to get together? A few months ago I was in Dallas, and my friends and I visited "The Dram." It's a sweet lounge and bar, and it's a bit classy. I had a lot of fun there, but one of the guys wasn't having so much fun and wanted to "meet girls" at the club. It was a letdown that night.

We don't really have that much going here... just clubs and coffee shops.

Digi, it's sounds naïve, but you will find someone perfect for you. People say it comes when you least expect it, but it usually requires some effort.

That's true. When it happens, it happens. The effort is just putting myself out there instead of staying in so much. Plus, I try to focus on taking care of myself and stay positive. It's challenging at times, but it drives me to try harder to become stronger and better.

You don't have any decent bars? Nothing too fancy, but not a place with sawdust on the floor either. Someplace where you can hear someone else talk without yelling. I've always had my best times at those kind of places as opposed to clubs.

I hate clubs, worst place to meet girls unless you want a drunk whore.

Are you saying that's a negative or a positive? :rofl2:

All depends on what you're looking for.

I go to the club with my buddies to have a good time, if I happen to meet a chick, thats a bonus.

BS:icon17:. No you don't! Every guy goes to a club hoping he'll get laid by the end of the night. You don't shower, shave, and get all dressed up for your buddy Brian. Don't fret, girls are the same way.

:ugh: You're suppose to be looking at the girls.

I don't know what you're talking about. :)

There are some bars here... mainly restaurant-like, but nothing too classy. There are a few spots downtown, but not a place I'd meet anyone (more like meeting up).

So for my first date tonight, it'll be dinner downtown. There's not much to do here and I'm trying to avoid movies (last resort if she really wants to go to one). There are museums (closed after 5-6p), live theater (nothing after new year), pool halls, bowling alley, piano bar (loud), etc.

Cmike2780 01-08-2014 09:36 AM

You're going on a first date on a Wednesday?

Are you doing something before dinner? You should definitely try doing something before dinner to break the ice. Absolutely no going to the movies! Even if she loves movies and suggest it, say no. It's the absolute worst place to get to know someone. Go somewhere quiet, scenic or fun. Comedy club or anything with live music maybe? There's gotta be a place in Kansas with a nice view. Heck, even something silly like Dave and Busters.

Some other suggestions that has worked well for me: (A lot easier to find stuff in NY, but you can certainly improvise)
-Ice Skating (perfect time of the year for this). Follow up with hot chocolate or coffee and you're in!
-Art Museum
-Walking around the city or town and going into small shops. (probably too cold, but still doable)
-Unique restaurant (Fondue or Hibachi for example)
-Zoo or Aquarium
-The Driving Range
-Watch a game

Yup! The initial plan was a double date with my friend and his fiancee. When he and I decided against it I had already asked my date about Wednesday. She works everyday and gets off a little later. We've met a few times, and she went to my house for the NYE party.

I'm in Wichita, which doesn't have much going on compared to KC. The cold weather limits outdoor activities as well. She suggested hanging out in the downtown area, which is close to where she lives. This is the first time I've put so much thought even though I just need to go with the flow and have fun. I've hung out with other girls in the past year, and never had to go through this. She's pretty outgoing, so I'm sure she's fine with anything. It would be nice to simply get to know each other better in person since the phone/text stuff is fairly minimal.

Here's a site to look at:
Arts & Entertainment | OldtownWichita.com

Here's what I have to deal with:
-Ice Skating (Closed at 3PM)
-Art Museum (Closd after 5PM or so)
-Walking around the city or town and going into small shops. (Possible freezing drizzle, and she's a little sick.)
-Unique restaurant (Easy)
-Zoo or Aquarium (Too cold. We don't have an aquarium)
-The Driving Range (Too cold. We have a couple spots, but it's all indoor arcade and ticket gaming. Fun to take a date, though.)
-Watch a game (WSU Shockers playing at home tonight! We might miss it by the time we finish dinner, though.)

Indoor shooting range anywhere close to you?

There's one I can think of, but closed at 9PM by the time we're done with dinner.
