One of my dad's friends said "For your new years resolution, you need to get a girlfriend. Then a wife." I asked him "Both, or wife first, then girlfriend?" He said "No, no! You'll get in trouble if you do that." :rofl2:

There's this girl, who moved here from Vietnam about 2 years ago and obviously likes me (possibly wants to marry me to get permanent residence). She hangs out at my parents house at least once a week to the point my dad's friends wonder why I won't introduce them to my "girlfriend." I tell them I don't have one, and I'm told "She's upstairs." SMH. She's around 24 now, and she spends a lot of time with my mom. Both of my parents bugged me about her for awhile. Even my aunt suggested I give her a chance. Quite honestly, I've hung out with her a few times. That's it... no attraction. 2014... moving on.

That's the thing about most of these girls in or from Vietnam. Some of them are fairly aggressive, and it's easy to sense the motive with these girls. I look into her eyes, and I get weird vibes.

I definitely don't want to come off as desperate or looking to get married. I'm just trying to make the right moves like playing chess (not a chess player). I just want to have fun with this girl, and who knows what it'll lead to.

So maybe I'm missing something, but why not look for non-Vietnamese chicks? I've never had a good experience with one. You **** them, not date them if you value your wallet.

Ain't that the truth! The friend I mentioned earlier gave up on Asian girls completely.

The last mixed girl I dated was Vietnamese/French and was culturally Vietnamese. It was a PITA of a relationship and lasted 6 months. The one I'm currently talking to is also mixed, but she is culturally Caucasian. I've never dated a white girl before, so this could get interesting if I play my cards right. She stays positive with her personality and is fairly attractive, so I'm sure she's tired of a bunch of dudes hitting on her with the same lines and whatnot. I'm trying to avoid that slippery slope.

In the meantime, I still keep my options open.

I'm approaching a potentially racially charged subject with typical white guy ignorance, but I've got to ask- are most Asian girls superficial and money hungry, or is it just the ones who will date white guys? I have pretty good sample size that fit that stereotype to a T.

Summary of 2013
  • My ex pretty much uses guys for food, money, and drinks. I was one of the victims as of last year when she wanted to get in touch with me again. I'd offer my care for her, and she goes off sleeping with some dude because she liked him. She thinks any of these dudes [business owners with money] might be the one, but they either dump her or tell her they don't want to be serious. Talks about being broke and money stuff a lot.
  • A girl I hung out talked about money stuff a lot and bragged about her purse collection including a $5k purse. Complained about her ex-bfs spending money on their cars. Barely lasted 2 days.
  • Another one is showing interest hanging out with me, but my friends say she dates guys for money.
  • The one that hangs out with my mom is nice, but she seems to bribe them with gifts and kindness. Claims my mom is her close friend. Even watches movies with her and her friend till 3AM. It's obvious she's gotta motive, and I don't fall for that jazz. :icon14:

That seems to be about my experiences with the Asian girls. I've had those same type of experiences with non-Asian girls as well, but not nearly as often.

You're looking at the wrong places then. Go to a decent bar. Valet the Porsche. Take your time getting out of it.

Haha, any takers, Chuck? ;)

The one I'm talking to is a fairly typical 21 year old white girl... likes to have fun, party, drink, travel, takes snaps shots, wears lots of make up at times, etc. In person, she doesn't even act the way she looks. She doesn't come off conceited, and doesn't talk money either. When she jumped in the passenger side of my car her first words were "Wow, your car is clean!" I was driving the '99 Accord that night. :p

I think we've found an issue. Every age you have mentioned is <25. Women are batshit crazy anyway, but it's so much worse under 27 or so.

DIGItonium 01-07-2014 02:01 PM

Understood. The girl a few hours away is around 25 and shot me down. My buddy's ex-fiancee was around 28 when she broke off the engagement only to marry someone else on the exact day planned. That girl was crazy from the get go.

How I see it, it doesn't matter what age the person is. Everyone's got their quirks. Even my mom drives my dad crazy, but they still love each other dearly.

Chuck33079 01-07-2014 02:03 PM

It gets marginally better after they turn 30. Maybe it's just that they get better about hiding it.

I think that's true. Someone once told me that anyone can act 'normal' for 90 days, that's usually when the wheels fall off. The challenge I have is the women in my age range are either self medicated (alcohol) or Big Pharma medicated (Xanax and who knows what else). I admit I act a little churlish when I'm out and about, hell, I'm a Marine what else am I supposed to do? :) I seem to have a little better success when I'm not looking for a gf, things just fall into my lap (not literally, but you get the idea). I may have to take bombdefuzer's suggestion and move to Thailand, I could use a housekeeper/cook/bed warmer...
