Totally random question but does anyone else have a high pitched buzz while driving? I noticed it on the cruise this weekend and now I can't ignore it.

Just my exhaust. :p

I'll have a listen on my drive home and see.

Maybe it's that ECU whine people have been talking about? Or a speaker is blown (or close to)?

does that sound like a crt (old tube tv)? if so, you might have the high pitched whine from the ECU.

yah, it's a known issue.... but no real fix for it unless you can get the dealer to replace it. :ugh2:

see if you can hear the whine in the passenger seat. i think it's position sensitive. if so, you might be able to angle the ecu in a way you can't hear it from the driver's seat. or try your GTMatt magic? :icon17:

Yes, you can hear it from both seats. I drove and was a passenger this weekend. I'll see what I can think of for a fix. :tiphat:

Cali is a nice place to visit. I wouldn't want to live there. But I'm way far away (30mi) from downtown Phoenix, where I work. I hate it.

Not yet. I haven't had much time. I may try today, if not I'll have to leave it to the weekend.

ahh, thanks for the info. that sucks you cant just turn the darn thing...humm...

if you have an app that can measure frequency on your phone you might be able to capture which frequencity that whine is. if not, use a tuner app and see if you can match the pitch. then go up an octave or two and find the frequency.

do you know what bandwidth your mats can contain sound? im not sure if it goes up that high...

is your 30min commute like through a pretty rural area? my commute is like 25min but round trip is less than 25miles. :)

GL adjusting the hanger height. should be an easy fix.

I couldn't really afford another car payment (or constant repairs on a used one). :(

I'm thinking of renting my house out and getting a condo downtown, as they give us free lightrail & bus passes... so I could do that, or if I'm close enough I could walk/ride a bike.

I need to do mine too. Though the Nov oil looks clean, it did sit for about 5 months.

Why not getting the end-link too and do everything in one-shot?

I can feel you are skeptical about the OEM endlink on the aftermarket sway... :icon17:

do you think I need the aftermarket endlinks? i thought people were so far 'okay' with it not breaking apart?

on my G, the rear oem one broke (rattled) after about 3k miles, but then
i bought some oem reinforced ones and they've been problem free. i have
spare aftermarket endlinks just in case, but have not had to swap them
yet after near 28k miles. :p my 9yr old G has 31500miles.

so i 'might' be okay?

kenchan 04-16-2013 04:36 PM

wish nissan would force new Z owners to take an IQ test before purchase.

Yeah I was thinking of maybe switching to a 1 oil change per year schedule but all of the oil is already bought :icon17: .

Then they'd have to pay me to take the Z, since I'd rank in the top .001%.

I think it's horrid, tbh. But to each his own I guess. :ugh2:

Nothing on that car's exterior would ever be seen on mine.
