Socal host one of the biggest R/C race in the world during the Winter, we used to have lots of guys fly to there to race.. :tup:

I started off with HPI chassis too, one of the most popular choices at that time (about 15 yrs ago :icon17:)

Then I switch to Yokomo, nicely build but the turn-in wasn't shape enough...

Then I switch to the TC-3 from associated, shaft-driven tub-chassis. The shaft-driven design make the car the fastest on acceleration and straight line speed, the amazing thing is they manage to minimize the torque-steer from the motor since the motor was mounted longitudinally...

After the TC-3, I switch to the T-1 from XRAY.... then I "retired"....

It was so much fun....

We ran 8-9 turns double or triple motors.... friggni' fast.... :tup:

mr.alcheng- nice! yah, now i remember. i had the TC-3 too from associated at the time. it had all sorts of problems when it was initially released and i remember the AE team handing out replacement parts at the track, especially the front arms that fractured for no reason. :tup: my main car was the Pro2 or something by hpi. was great in socal cause hpi, yokomo, associated, etc were all local and the team drivers would come out at times to not only kick our arses, but let us in on some of their setup secrets. :tup:

i had a 9 turn armature i bought in japan that i put together with one of my 7turn cans and i was able to churn out 7turn speed, but at the efficiency of a 9turn. so 3min modified racers were no issue even with the 2000mAh. i could go near 5min before dump. :D those were indeed great times.

my weekend was motor the santa monica canyons early am in my real car, then head over to socal to race rc cars in the afternoon. :icon17:

Or else he has so much money that he can afford a Lambo for a winter beater :icon17: I would assume he drives a Veyron during nice weather.

The TC-3, got a huge delay on its release at that time, mainly because the torque-steer issue from the motor... somehow they fixed the problem.

Before I retired the TC-3, the last race it participate was a 12-hours endurance.

Yup, 12-hours, from 12am to 12pm, with a stock motor.

We managed to won the first place, I forgot how many laps we were over the 2nd place but it was about 100+ for sure.... :icon17:

7 turns motor is crazy, but since you guys have the track which has a long straight-way... why not?? :tup:

And we run 5 mins race too, with the 8-9 turns..

dang... my hands are getting "itch" now.... :icon17::icon17:

yah, the setups were pretty intimidating for the races. as you know even just tires we had to have all sorts of different compounds with different inserts inside...for concrete, asphalt, carpet, hot, cold, not so hot, wet?! :eekdance: :icon17: i can't see myself doing that again. it's a lot of work just to prep the car, batteries, motor.

i guess now days it's a lot easier with the battery and motor.. :confused:.. no need to discharge, no commutator to cut, etc. :confused:

Just received my EVO-R front/rear Z emblems :tup:

On a side note, I just checked the tracking number and it says no data available, same as it did last week when I ordered it.

As long as I didn't pay extra for a useless tracking number, I have zero complaints. I ordered it last Friday, Jay gave me tracking number same day, and it just arrived today. As I said, no complaints from me :tup:

got a shower and now thinking bout what to do for dinner. Perhaps going to Panda resturuant (and sushi bar) or not , depends on what everyone else wants.... me? i want the Panda resturuant and sushi bar :tup:
