What we need in the future are insanely high compression V8's, like Mazda's SkyActiv. If that could be implemented in every motor, you'd see greater power and efficiency. In fact, you could use a lower displacement engine because you'd be pushing that kind of power.

That said, Mazda has only utilized the SkyActiv tech in their inline-4 gas and diesel motors. There's probably a good reason why they didn't roll it out to their V6 motors, among them detonation, fueling, strength of components, etc.

Interesting. If it comes down to Nissan making a factory turbo'd Z years down the road I'd still buy it lol

I would love to drive an Infiniti V8 engine sometime in the near future...

Will V8 engines become "extinct" ? ? ?

all petroleum engines I feel will become extinct, although I really hope it is not within my lifetime.

if we ever get diesel, CNG, and hydrogen to catch on, then at least we'll still have combustion engines in the future, which is better than all electric cars.

yeah, all electric cars don't really excite me. Let's start w/ smaller displacement - more fuel efficient engines, first.
