It's easier to get it out undamaged in a dovetail than if it's pinned in. There's usually a decent enough smith at your local range that has a sight pusher.

It's easier to get it out undamaged in a dovetail than if it's pinned in. There's usually a decent enough smith at your local range that has a sight pusher. The issue becomes the angle of the dovetail. Make sure whatever sights you buy have the same angle or you'll have to recut the dovetail. I've seen a few night sights that actually come with the pusher. Can't remember the brand- maybe AmeriGlo?
