With the Ultra Sonic. I dump the cases in there. Set the timer for 30 minutes, and temp at 140F. After they get done there. I put the cases in the Hornady dryer. 30 minutes and their done. Ready for the next step. No dust involved, and no digging media out of the primer pockets.

One of the problems I heard about the pin tumblers are the pins remaining in the cleaned cases.

Just like the corn cob. You have to shake the case to get the pins out.

For those VA folks. Can you give me the quick run down on conceal carry laws? Texas has reciprocity with VA and just curious if there are any weird laws. Also is there a mag size limit?

VA has pretty standard carry laws, no weird laws yet. With Bloomberg's butt buddy Northam in charge and the Dems majority we have been fortunate nothing too bad has been passed yet. The only thing of concern at the moment it the possibility of a law that would allow cities and counties to pass their own regulations that can be stricter than state law. Fortunately Northam kicked it back to the House/Senate for changes we'll see what happens there. WRT round count, the cap is 20 per mag for certain jurisdictions unless you have a CHP. Also can't carry a pistol that can accept a silencer, unless you have a CHP.

For conceal carry laws the USCCA is a great resource. They tend to have the most up to date info (VA was updated 4-20-2020) and they make it easy to understand. I have the web address for their reciprocity and law map saved on all my devices for quick reference.

I guess you're going to be in VA at some point. Where are you heading? BE WARNED, if you didn't know already VA speeding laws are some of, if not the worst, in the country. Definitely keep it under 20 over and under 80 unless you like massive fines and the possibility to going straight to jail. Keep it to 10 over, don't be the fastest car, and don't drive like a douche and you'll be fine. However VA State Troopers have been known to pick on out of staters especially ones with modified/loud cars. Also the use of radar/laser detectors are prohibited. You can have a detector in your car just you can't be using it and don't have it in reach.

My in-laws live there and we visit them every summer, so I’m familiar with the traffic laws. I’m only going to be in VA for about 10 miles of our trip. They live on the NC/VA border. I’m not really concerned with actually carrying, but I don’t want to drive halfway across the country without a way to protect my family. Normally we fly, but with this Covid BS we are likely to drive this year.

Thanks for the link. If I do carry in these other states I’ll have to familiarize myself with signage requirements. Texas is black and white. If the actual wording of the law is not placed visibly in 1” block letters at the entrance in both English and Spanish, then it doesn’t apply.

Here is the ruling from Judge Benitez regarding the Ammo background check in California. He pretty much destroyed the law as written by using....surprise... common sense. Hopefully they wont put a stay on this ruling while it goes through appeals.

https://michellawyers.com/wp-content...anting-MPI.pdf.

If anyone is familiar with the law process, please correct me in my understanding of the appeals.
1. California can take it up to the 9th circuit
2. In the 9th ckt, it goes through a 3 judge panel to review Judge Benitez decision

At this point, what would determine the case to go to an 11 judge panel? Also, if it goes to the 11 judges, their decision becomes law for all states that fall under the 9th circuit courts jurisdiction. Does this go both ways? If they decide to uphold the ammo background check will it apply to the other states as well?

If CA appeals the preliminary injunction and loses, they can appeal again for an en banc hearing in front of 11 appellate judges of the 9th Circuit. Same goes for if the plaintiffs lose in the 3 judge panel. The 9th can decide not to re-hear the case. Alternatively they can hear it and rule either way.

Regardless of which way the ruling goes, it will not be "law". The motion at hand was for a preliminary injunction to prevent the state from enforcing this law, due to the likelihood of immediate and irreparable injury to the plaintiffs, until the case can be heard on the merits and a ruling made on the constitutionality of the law.

Regardless of how the case goes, it will only apply to CA. However, it will become case law and thus dispositive in any future suits regarding future laws of the same nature passed by other states in the 9th Circuit.

Immediate and irreparable injury to the plaintifs...
Theres a section in Judge Benitez's ruling that mentions "injury" to the plaintiffs. Makes sense.

Something to talk about.

What do you guys think of the IWI Tavor TS12 shotgun?

I love bullpups, big fan of the Tavor rifles, and this is the first bullpup shot gun I'm excited about. Initially I didn't like it but now after seeing it in action I'm liking it a lot.

Rusty, do you load for 44 Mag? I've got some brass here I'll bring with me in July.

What kind of bullets you want. Jacketed, you supply. I have cast with gas checks. 225gr and 240gr SWC's. I drive these as hard as a jacketed bullet without leading the barrel. The gas check makes a big difference.

I don't have a 44 Mag, so this is extra brass that I want to send to a good home. I've got some other odd ball (stuff I don't own a firearm in) that I want to give to someone that needs it.

Off the top of my head:

35 Remington
32 ACP
25 ACP (maybe)

I'll compile a list of caliber & quantity. I also have some factory 270 that the previous owner of the house left.

I can tell from his graph this is about elastic response and pIastic deformation. I remember that discussion from Mechanics of Solids in school.

My guess is his conclusion is keep em loaded.

DieselKrampus 05-21-2020 09:31 AM

My understanding around the matter has always focused on the magazine springs themselves. And that spring steel gets fatigued from excessive compression/release cycles, *not* from being held in compressed position for long periods of time. Just my $0.02. (Keep em loaded)

If I sold someone a $13,000 rifle that could reach out and touch someone, like, say, the seller, from 10,000 feet away, I'd be REAL flexible on coloration pricing.

As promised, a list of brass that I don't have weapons for, that needs a good home. You want it, PM me. If you are coming to the Michigan summer meetup, I'll bring it along.

As a disclaimer, this is all range pickup brass. It has not been cleaned, just counted. Some may be a little grungy, but it might clean up. :ugh2:

185 25 Auto
~200+ 32 Auto (its a 4x4 ziplock bag full)
8 32 S&W
76 44 Mag
2 5.7x28
2 22 Hornet
2 7mm Mauser Rusty
1 7mm Rem Mag Rusty
1 6mm Rem
1 8mm Mauser
1 270
4 7mm TCU
11 35 Remington

I do have some live ammo, I can't ship that, but I can deliver it to Michigan. It is factory ammo.

Box of 50 FN 5.7x28 40gr Hornady bullets
22 270 Winchester 130gr SP

As always, I'm open to trade for stuff. I load for 380 Auto, 9mm, 38/357, 41 Mag, 357 SIG, 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 223/5.56, 308, 30-06, 30-30, 32 Win Special, 6.8 SPC, 300BLK.

I have some empty RCBS die boxes. I'm switching over to the larger Hornady boxes and I hate to just throw away stuff. I have some extra reloading dies too. I'll work on a list of what they are, if anyone is interested.

A M1 is on my list to get, then I will have all the 'modern era' wood stock battle rifles. Going back older than the 1903A3 will require more $$$, but then again, maybe not. I like ones that I can shoot and are in decent shape. My 03A3 is a Smith Corona rifle, looks brand new and shoots well as long as the operator does his part. I paid $250 for it back in the 80s.

Parts are hard to come by. I had to replace the OP Rod and OP Rod Catch. Found only one guy on ebay selling those at the time.
If I can find an original M1 Carbine in good condition at a decent price, Ill be happy.

Somehow I missed this, but I have been away from the forum for a while.
I have a FN57, so any of that ammo I would like. I have reloading dies for it now , but finding the bullets is hard. I have a gen1 and getting a red dot on top is no fun.
My son is into the Makarov pistols now and is resizing and making 9 x 18 ammo out of 9mm casings. We have will be casting these bullets soon. Tired of relying on ammo stores.
