it was a lot of fun...im going to do an IDPA match tomorrow and a USPSA match on sunday

For a change I am seriously considering buying a 1911, and as you all know there are many, many manufacturers. When I go out to the interweb reading forums and blogs for guidance for which to chose, I swear that 1911 fanboys are worse than the Chevy vs. Ford guys...it makes my head want to explode. Within the same thread every make of 1911 is both the best and the worst...

Well anywho I kinda like the looks of Kimber and I am thinking about picking up a Tactical Entry II. Is there any reason why I shouldn't go for this brand/model? The price isn't that important to me.

Yeah, isn't that the truth. I play golf a lot so between that, shooting and the Z I can't afford any more hobbies :( But those keep me occupied and happy :)

Memorial Day to Election Day: The Daily Caller gun giveaway | The Daily Caller

Between memorial day and election day, the daily caller is giving away a gun a week. its a 9mm with the bill of rights engraved on it. downside? its a FMK 9c1

1911 vs glock jokes make my days goes by!

if price isn't an option....Dan Wesson. I have a s&w 1911. My buddy has six kimbers. He refuses to buy a kimber made after a certain year, according to him the quality started heading downhill a few years ago. Something to think about.

for those who don't know, JMB stands for John Moses Browning, who designed the 1911 from instructional stone tablets given to him upon the mountain from GOD.

The rumor is that Kimber stopped getting their castings from S&W and started using MIM for their small parts right at about the point where common wisdom suggests that their quality took a slide. Same has been said of SIG's quality decline (markedly increased use of MIM). Interesting to note that the ex-CEO of Kimber is now CEO of SIG (Ron Cohen).

would you happen to know the production years the decline in quality happened for both brands? cuz you're awesome maccool!

I don't know what year my self. But a while back, maybe a year or so ago, a vendor on a forum stated he states that kimbers are not up to par.

I think they are pricey.

Thanks for the feedback fellas. I have gone around to a few gun stores and have heard some of the same comments about Kimber, so I think I might aim a littler higher in my 1911 purchase. Originally my budget was around $1500, but I think I might plan on doubling that or more. A couple of makes that have caught my eye are Wilson Combat and Uselton, so with that being said it may be a couple of months till I can actually make the purchase.

Thanks again for the info and I will definitely post the pictures when I get it.

Just asking which looks better to you. The black is 50 bucks cheaper.

For Summer carry The .380 is so small I hardly notice it.
Perfect with just a T-shirt.

I was considering the Ruger LCP but I liked the feel of the BodyGuard better.
Plus I like that the slide locks open after the last round, many of the .380's don't.

Also the sights are better than most .380's...
they are adjustable and not the little nubs you see on many of the mouse guns.

The Built in Laser is a nice extra too.
I'd recommend it for sure.

Not to get in a ballistics battle, but I was looking at getting my wife a bodyguard. Do you feel there's enough stopping power? Honest question, not trolling. I really do like the size of the gun and the fact it has a built in laser.
