That is one of the big things going for a 1911 fan, they have SOOOO many to choose from. The brand I was first considering was Kimber...they make some purty guns.

Magazines are such a gimmick. $27 for each 6rd mag. Just ordered four of them.

Took the CM9 to the range last night. Put around 150 rounds through it. No FTF or FTE. Slide did not lock back after a couple early empty mags, but that's common during the break-in apparently.
Shoots really well. I like the trigger a lot. Very smooth. Going back on Friday to finish the break-in. Probably at least 200 rds of FMJ and then a box of 50 124gr Gold Dots. It's definitely loosened up some after just 150.

I need to keep it 9mm as that's the round that I stockpile. After the 19/17 I think I'm going to start getting into other calibers for fun, like one of the S&W .45 1911s and a German Walther PPK...

I have (access to) a 9mm 1911. Colt 70 Series.
I might buy a good optic for my AR and wait on the new Glock. Not sure. I don't really get a chance to shoot the AR much. But I know if the zombies come I'll wish I had an Aimpoint.

Maybe I'll just get both.
![]() BTW, I'm sort of the opposite of you... the 19 is a perfect fit for my smallish hands. The 17 would have the benefit of greater capacity and a slightly longer sight radius, but I'm not really sure how much of a difference there would be with the two. Maybe I should rent them next time I go to the range. One of the major pluses of the 19 is I could easily carry it if I wanted to, whereas the 17 would probably be too big. The 19 would probably be pretty good at OWB carry in the winter.

That isn't so crazy of an idea at all...for the price of one H&K or a good 1911 you can buy two Glocks. I think that is why I went with a less expensive 1911...I was like "Damn, I can get three H&Ks for the price of one Wilson Combat!".
Are you looking at the Gen 4s? They have adjustable backstraps. |
