My timing works well. If I'm a LTC at twenty then I have about 1 yr until the promotion board for O6. I will take a look and retire if I don't make it. If I do make it then I'll be in until 25 yrs.

I don't want to be that LTC hanging out cause I'm afraid of civilian life. I can get a top civilian HR job based on my military career. And 2 paychecks will make me as much or more than O6

O-5 retired pay isn't anyting to sneeze at anyway, so I would say you are setting yourself up for success...

Lots of reasons, but mainly my career field in the AF was shrinking while it was exspanding in the Army.

But damn my luck now the Army is talking about shrinking, I just hope I'm ahead of that bubble.

what was your AFSC? and your current MOS?

I had an OTS classmate make tech list while in OTS. She almost quit to take the promotion.
