Sounds like that guy just needed to grow a pair, i've traded in my car while on a work trip and just showed up with a new car. I've traded my wifes car in while she was at work. and the last time, which was when i got my Z i just told my wife i had some major problems with my current car and it would be cheaper to buy a Z, so she said thats what i should do then, so i did!
