Other than the 1.5 hours of gym a day, I don't do much of anything. Desk job ftl.

StLRedrider 09-19-2009 08:03 PM

i really over do it, i work out daily and cycle about 15 to 23 miles a night. don't see much of the couch, winter is coming and that will be a different story.

Yeah, opposite for me. Since winter is coming, I can leave the house again. It's the summer I'm inside all day. :icon17:

Carefull buddy, I think that can cause negative sexual function/desire over time. If this was prescribed by your GP, I would see a professional Psychologist/Therapist and get a second opinion from an expert. Do you feel that you might be depressed? Lack of motivation in life? Unhappy?

Confused, I told him "sure ..."
He came back with a psych, who proceeded to ask me a bunch of questions. Although I felt fine, she told me I was depressed, and she recommended me coming in to see her at least once a week. I blew it off.

Fast forward to yesterday. I'm getting a flu shot at a DIFFERENT dr. I ask if we can do bloodwork on my testosterone, because my workouts have been dragging. She proceeds to ask me questions, and again, although I feel fine, she ends up giving me a prescription for zoloft (spelling?).

I feel fine, but I must sure give off a weird vibe to people.

Psych=They will **** with your head! Come to think of it, I will **** with your head-but in a friendly way.

See, that's the moral of my story. I feel fine, but everyone else thinks I'm messed up. It's cliche, but it's like I'm in a twilight episode where I can see that the sky is blue and everyone else is telling me it's red.

Actually, I was probably wrong. It's 98 now, so it was probably in the 103 range, lol.

Don't worry, I'm not normal, nor have I tried to be.

If you feel fine, and are functioning fine in society, and your girlfriend is happy, and your friends don't see anything wrong with you, and you don't have any suicidal thoughts ............. I would be skeptical of the Docs diagnosis. Was this based on your bloodwork? They saw a chemical imbalance? Or was this a coincidence when the bloodwork was being done, and the Psych Doc followed your GPs recommendation?

I wasn't based on anything but sitting there talking to me. I guess the only reason it was even worth mentioning is because the same exact thing happened twice, with 2 different doctors, 2 years apart.

Well, my cheap advice would be to really see a professional before I started taking Zoloft. Since you mentioned this was two different doctors, leads me to believe you don't have a long history with this most recent doctor that prescribed the meds. If you had been a regular patient of his for years, then I might trust his "picking up on something" in your demeanor to warrant the prescription.

"wasn't based on anything but sitting there talking to me". Did you tell him anything direct, like, I feel down in the dumps, or blue, or my energy is down and I have no motivation? Anything that would trigger this. I apologize if I am sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong, but you asked for advice and you're a pretty good dude from what I can tell. I just hate to see you started on Zoloft from a "quick and dirty" diagnosis. (I dated a girl briefly that was hooked on this stuff, can't get off now and will be taking it probably for the rest of her life).

Yes, I know a few girls from back home that got hooked on it, but they were also abusing it and it wasn't prescribed to them.

Zoloft can be to some. She tried to get off it after years of taking it and had serious suicidal thoughts, had to get back on it. Stress related stuff like Xanax are far less habit forming.

StLRedrider 09-19-2009 09:14 PM

do you know anything about effexor?

PyroCustoms 09-19-2009 09:15 PM

http://www.rxlist.com/
Drugs.com | Prescription Drugs - Information, Interactions & Side Effects

I've used both of these sites for research papers for some of my classes.

I've actually used drugs.com to identify some pills we confiscated off of someone while I worked in Public Safety for a Univeristy.
