Hey Big A, has anyone with a touring and navi gotten their bose system out and an aftermarket one installed? something with a double din touch screen?

bigaudiofanat 08-29-2009 09:57 PM

LOL you are all nuts.

frost 08-29-2009 09:57 PM

I don't like that rule.. I think it should be everyone or no one.

I'm trying to promote no one.. but I feel like I'd lose that push...

LOL well I am waiting for one care to volunteer? But I mean it is pointless because you can not hear what the nav is saying out of the factory one so why have it. And that is all it rely is used for. I mean the new aftermarket one will be able to do everything the factory one can do and more.

Need my Z first, and for that, I need to decided where I want to work/live based on who has something in my line of work. Once I figure that out, I'll order my Z. :D

Then yeah I may be talking to you about what setup :)

No one has because they do not knwo what the customer wants and all. People with the 2 screens I mean there is no real reason for it and it is a ton of customizing for it.

bigaudiofanat 08-29-2009 10:10 PM

Save your money get a base one and get a nice aftermarket head unit.

Ahh i was thinking more along the lines of utilizing magden or HKS Camp II

I want leather... so there is my touring....

bigaudiofanat 08-29-2009 10:15 PM

Well if you want to do it like that than you would have to find the bypass for the video "working on that" and than you can have your HKS hooked up all the time to the nav screen.

Togo 08-29-2009 10:16 PM

But with the HKS hooked up I then wouldn't be able to use the GPS at the same time...

bigaudiofanat 08-29-2009 10:18 PM

No you use the HKS on the nav factory screen and have the nav on the aftermarket head unit

bigaudiofanat 08-29-2009 10:19 PM

Just going to take a bit of time for me to figure out this video bypass for the factory unit.

Togo 08-29-2009 10:19 PM

Oh I'm following you, yeah thats why i was asking about the two screens.. if i did that i'd just use the nav on the aftermarket unit

I thought you meant just hook the HKS to stock nav and don't add the second screen.. I follow now. :) I guess it all revolves around a video bypass for hte factory nav

bigaudiofanat 08-29-2009 10:21 PM

Well no you would put a regular monitor in your little cubby fiberglass it in and have it hooked up there and still have your aftermarket head unit. and than you just buy your seats later lol.

Togo 08-29-2009 10:22 PM

Here is another question.. asuming you have hte blue tooth you have the microphone in the cabin. now if you switch to the new head unit you need to use a new microphone i'd imagine. anyway to keep the existing one in place and wire it up to the new aftermarket unit instead?

Togo 08-29-2009 10:24 PM

Maybe it would be smarter to just buy the car outright as a base and have them swap out hte seats and door panels on pick up.. this way it's easy to swap out the sound system later on...

bigaudiofanat 08-29-2009 10:26 PM

Yes I can do that to just have to find the wires and integrate them into the new head unit. UNLESS it goes threw a amp of some sort for filter.
