Why is FOX Channel are screwed up?

I had the exact same problem when I switched from cable to satellite tv. The new cable box defaulted to a "zoom" setting on HD channels to get rid of

The new cable box defaulted to a "zoom" setting on HD channels to get rid of the black-border areas that are normal on an HD channel.
