Agreed, I hope that we don't need the Samba bus for any other races! :eekdance:

I'd hate to have to spend an extra 50K or so on it for a few extra ponys.

djpathfinder 12-02-2010 11:42 AM

You don't need to buy a SambaBus or mod it for the special Top Gear event.

Eric 12-02-2010 11:44 AM

Yeah, I know that. All I meant was, I just hope that I never need to purchase it and dump money into it for any other event. Some of the vehicles in the game seem pretty useless and I hope that I never need to use them.

Zaggeron 12-02-2010 12:08 PM

You weren't overjoyed at receiving your shiny new premium Prius?

MC 12-02-2010 05:49 PM

does anyone have a car they can share online i can use for the Historic Racing Car Cup in expert?

i really screwed up last night... i had a shelby cobra i won and thought i could upgrade it to compete as it was allowed in that race ( thought it would be cheaper than buying one of these cars)

so i spent like 100K on it and it still wasnt able to keep up.... then when i sold it it didnt give me any credits... so i lost all that money and still dont have a car for that event

Is it needed for a race? If not, I'm selling it.

I was wondering myself how people are getting around this one...these are 15-20 million dollar cars you're competing against...who's got that kind of scratch at this point of the game? I bought a Shelby Mustang with the same intentions, but after realizing I couldn't put any aero additions onto it (to say nothing about power increases), I realized it was pointless.

Win the Lamborghini Exclusive, you'll get the '74 LP400.
Tune it and you should be able to beat it.

One thing's driving me crazy - there's a little number on the race thumbnails. So, hit A-Spec - Beginner Series - Sunday Cup and there are three races. And there are little numbers on each one - mine says 3-2-2 in that order. At first I thought it was the number of cars you had valid to race that event. Then I though it was how many attempts you've had at it. It's not how many times you've won it either.

I can't see anything in the manual about it. Does anyone know what they symbolize? Difficulty maybe? Can't be. Sunday cup is piss.

Maybe it's what place you got in each race...third...second...second...

Anatoray 12-03-2010 04:56 AM

Those are the number of laps.

That's it!

BAHH! I KNEW that, the moment someone tells me what it is, it'd seem obvious and I'd feel stupid. :shakes head:

Well, GT5 just gifted me a car from the year I was born on my birthday today. It wasn't much of a give though since it was only a 1969 Nissan Bluebird 1600.

^ Happy birthday! Holly cow man, I've been looking for that car forever!

Eric 12-03-2010 10:51 AM

Really, I can gift it to you if you have something you want to swap for it.

I'll give you 1 million dollhairs for it. Or carbon credits.. whichever you'd prefer.

Anatoray 12-04-2010 07:11 PM

Anyone have any tips for what cars to look out for for the b class japanese classic? Last cup I need for that class, but haven't even come across any decent cars for sale that meet the requirements.

djpathfinder 12-04-2010 10:20 PM

I'm hoping to be able to snatch a 240Z or Toyota 2000GT...but no luck yet in the used car section. Did come across an old Skyline sedan...guess I should have bought that when I got the chance.

Is this the Beginners Series Japanese Classic race? If so, I used a '79 Honda Civic 1500 with a lot of performance mods to win this race.

I finally found a '74 240ZG in my used car lot.

red6spd 12-05-2010 08:01 AM

i finally found a truck

Anatoray 12-05-2010 09:29 AM

Oh god, the truck races... Did that with a F150 after camping the used lot for a day.

Eric 12-05-2010 10:19 AM

Ended up finding and buying a Chevy Silverado Concept for 90K.

djpathfinder 12-05-2010 10:54 AM

I want either a 240Z or Toyota 2000GT...still no luck. Settled for a Honda S500, but it's gonna need a ton of mods to transform 57 HP to around 160. Did find a 70 Charger for the classic muscle car race though.

6spd 12-05-2010 10:59 AM

anyone else bothered by the shitty selection of races, like the truck race, all the classic car, f'in Lupo and Vitz races? god that sucks... imo, there should be more races that require modern day cars, which by GT5's standard are rarely ever needed.

Anatoray 12-05-2010 11:17 AM

GT games always had disappointing race selection through the first 2 classes. It's a tradition at this point to make players suffer through 20+ hours of ******** to get to what they all want.

i did something just as crazy.... i was doing a nascar race and i wanted to see how badly a nascar car would take damage so i ran the opposite way on Daytona and i hit the lead car coming the opposite way at full speed..... what happened next was hillarious... it shot that car so far up into the sky it almost disappeared... i tried it again and the result wasnt the same so it was one of those weird one time things i think.... seriously it shot the other car up in sky almost off screen my car didnt even really move

Anatoray 12-11-2010 09:04 PM

It's not a glitch. That's what happens if you land on top of a cpu car.

Super Tanooki 12-11-2010 11:33 PM

I don't know about you guys but I really love the chill lounge music and laid back jazz soundtrack of Gran Turismo games. It just adds that touch of class to the game and keeps that sub gently humming while I fix up my stuff.

Anyway, I was browsing though the music list, which you can customize fully to play each song at certain parts of the game and found that the entire (awesome) menu soundtrack from GT5: Prologue is in there, but they're all deactivated. So unless you turn them on you'll never hear them.

Did I mention the GT5:P menu music was awesome? So yeah, you should go turn those on in menus right now...

Anatoray 12-12-2010 12:04 AM

The only thing I don't like is that using a custom soundtrack for racing completely turns off the game's own music during the races. I liked a few of those songs and had to actually download them and add them to my HDD just so they'd be in the mix.

It's not starting till 2011...only the registration is open

Cmike2780 12-20-2010 04:06 PM

Just bought a PS3+GT5 package at Best Buy 2 days ago, which means I now have all three consoles. Got it for $349 and they give you a $50 gift card and a Blu-ray movie with it. Not a bad deal at all considering I already had a $100 gift card burning a hole in my pocket.

I like the game overall, but is anyone else disappointed with the non-premium, "standard" cars. The modeling on some of those look like they belong on the PS-One. I would have much rather prefered more "premium" cars and junk all the standard ones altogether.
