PS3 - Gran Turismo

I don't know about you guys but I really love the chill lounge music and laid back jazz soundtrack of Gran Turismo games. It just adds that touch of class to the game and keeps that sub gently humming while I fix up my stuff.

Anyway, I was browsing though the music list, which you can customize fully to play each song at certain parts of the game and found that the entire (awesome) menu soundtrack from GT5: Prologue is in there, but they're all deactivated. So unless you turn them on you'll never hear them.

Did I mention the GT5:P menu music was awesome? So yeah, you should go turn those on in menus right now...

The only thing I don't like is that using a custom soundtrack for racing completely turns off the game's own music during the races. I liked a few of those songs and had to actually download them and add them to my HDD just so they'd be in the mix.

Just bought a PS3+GT5 package at Best Buy 2 days ago, which means I now have all three consoles. Got it for $349 and they give you a $50 gift card and a Blu-ray movie with it. Not a bad deal at all considering I already had a $100 gift card burning a hole in my pocket.

I like the game overall, but is anyone else disappointed with the non-premium, "standard" cars. The modeling on some of those look like they belong on the PS-One. I would have much rather prefered more "premium" cars and junk all the standard ones altogether.

i love the 370z but without skid recovery and then ASM if it was that touchy in real life id pour gas on it and burn it to the ground...

seriously i played Tsukuba for 2 hours trying to find the right settings

ASM ON.. forget it you can even compete for time at all

LOL I can't compete with you anyway MC. I saw the times that you were posting in the GTR forum for the contest and I was nowhere near that. No way I can compete with thousands of people in GT Academy.

the best time on that track so far is a damn 1:05... i cant see how they are doing that.. i busted my *** for a high 1:07.xx i got to where i was shaving just hundreths off

The fiat bonus event is hard LOL...I can get silver consistently but 1st is about 12 seconds away even when i finish 2nd.

hint: race transmission dialed in so it bounces off red once or twice near end of long straight... also, there are a few corners you can enter with a lot more speed than you initially think, including the one after start finish straight

Question: can you not change settings like ABS in-game for these GTA events? I assume it's to make it fair for everyone, but maybe it's just me. They are grayed out.

I almost won the Fiat event. I finished within a second of the leader. My lap time are between 1:19s and 1:21s with the first lap usually a 1:22s lap. I'll win this event eventually!

here's how to gold on the fiat event... the first corner is key! it sets you up to come out fast and pass the first couple cars before the long straight... just jump right over the grass on the right in second turn then brake straight and 100 degree left... right turn with only barely the front left tire still on the track surface - rest is over grass - then pass a mini van and make sure you are close enough to the next car (yellow?) so that you can catch it's slipstream in time enough to pass BEFORE the long straight turns right... done correctly, you will be 17.5 seconds off the pace at the end of first lap (not 18+)... if you don't see 17.5 then reset... second lap, same thing slip stream... third lap you're on your own, 4/5 laps are all about catching the first car... you should be within ~4 secs starting last lap... goal is to be in first car's slipstream or close to it on long straight of last lap - you don't need to be ahead of it, as it is very slow coming out of the final turn... and by the way, the payout sucks on this event! some of the others pay 1 mill for gold, not this one
