Yes, I also like the landscaping around number 5, and how the open seating area runs right up to the pool.

I just placed an order for my Seiko Flightmaster. It's the watch on the right in this picture. I'm going to put it on a black leather Di-Modell strap similar to the one the Navitimer is sitting on in the pic.

http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/h...cs/NHBNSF1.jpg

I have always wanted one of those but never got around to ordering one.

Very high quality timepiece at a very reasobable price............. says "quality AND thrifty" in this economy

m4a1mustang 08-09-2010 07:51 PM

I have always liked Seikos because you can buy a bunch of them at once without breaking the bank, and most of them are high quality pieces.

frost 08-09-2010 07:52 PM

I'm pretty sure my buddy bought the flightmaster at the same time I bought my titanium seiko. We both still have them circa 10 years later.

Drinking a Manhattan, currently. Maker's Mark and Sweet Vermouth, accompanied by 2 ice cubes doomed to slosh around and eventually melt away in my whiskey glass.

Just reading 'Makers Mark' actually turns my stomach. I prefer my Manhattans with Canadian Club and straight up.

This was my first bottle of it, and my first taste was straight up. From all the raving reviews I've read, it didn't impress me. Not that I won't enjoy emptying the bottle, however.

@antennahead: no cherry for me, thanks. Keep the umbrella too! Haha!

I take 2 cherries in mine actually. I remember being little and my grandfather always giving me one out of his glass when we would go out to eat.

:iagree: The cherries make it in my opinion, that little bit of flavor they add to the mix

And here is the one on my keychain with my Z fob:
Chrome Draco

And I have a bunch of more standard lights (like SureFire and EDC and Fenix) that I have lying around :D

I have two more affordables being delivered this week, then I am going to chill out for a while. My next watch purchase should be a Planet Ocean Seamaster (black bezel and dial) around Christmas time... hopefully with my bonus!

Mechanical watches are my favorite... they are the most interesting.

Though my Tissot and Flightmaster are both quartz... I prefer the mechanicals!

nogoodname 08-17-2010 07:30 PM

if and when i get one, it will be Mechanical without a doubt.

Well what is your budget and what style watch do you like? Depending on what you like they can be very affordable.

One that is being delivered to me on Thursday only cost me $95 shipped on sale so I figured I'd order it and give it a try.

I like these kinds: Spring Drive | SEIKO WATCH CORPORATION

m4a1mustang 08-17-2010 07:41 PM

Spring Drives are expensive as hell for Seikos.

It's funny that Seiko is not a status watch yet it makes many high end pieces (Spring Drive, Grand Seiko, etc). They have some fantastic movements though that real watch enthusiasts really appreciate.

Myself... I like to stick to the sub $1000 Seikos. If I'm going to spend $1000+ on a watch it's going to be something like an Omega or a Sinn or something like that. That's just me, though.

The thing about the Spring drive is that because it uses the mechanical movement to maintain a battery charge it's not a true mechanical watch in the sense of only mechanical power. Still very cool, though, if you can afford to spend thousands on one. :)

m4a1mustang 08-17-2010 07:44 PM

If you can settle for a regular Seiko automatic you have a lot of options. My favorite watch right now is my little Seiko diver... cost me a little less than $200 back in 2007 and it's my "go to." It's not like it's a COSC rated piece but it keeps +/- 4 seconds per day with probably some improvement in it. Need to regulate it some more.

nogoodname 08-17-2010 07:48 PM

pics of your Seiko diver?

I like the spring drive only because one of my friends had one and I really like it... maybe I should look at other options...lol

m4a1mustang 08-17-2010 07:56 PM

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_qiUkqaHCPFw/TG.../s800/skx2.jpg

This one is not my picture... just a good one I found online:
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_qiUkqaHCPFw/TG...f08b361a45.jpg

It's a Seiko SKX031k2 automatic. I think I bought it from Overstock for $165 back then. Unfortunately it comes on a cheap, folded bracelet, so for about $40 I replaced it with a Seiko Super Oyster bracelet with solid links... a really nice bracelet.

I have a Seiko SKX033k2 being delivered to me on Friday. It's the "Pepsi" version of the 031k2. It has a blue dial and blue/red bezel. Once I get it I'll have to source another Super Oyster bracelet because I will not wear the watch with the cheapo bracelet it comes with. :)

This is not my image, but this is the watch:
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/268...dcb74f09e7.jpg

The thing I really like about these divers is they look great on NATO straps. This is not my picture but I wear my 031 on a NATO "bond" strap every now and then like this one:
