Why popo keep popping my hood in socal?

Driving anything loud will get you pulled over. Good thing the z stock is real quiet. Almost like a mouse compared to others.

Yeah my NISMO would get stopped all the time in Cali. I blew by a bike cop with his radar gun out yesterday going ~78 in a 65. He didn't even flinch. I usually give them a small wave as I pass and of course slow down or change lanes as per the new law.

Quote:
In April, Los Angeles police took down the license plate numbers of Evo owners who had merely gathered to swap stories and share the experiences they had in owning similar vehicles. The police then mailed each participant an accusatory letter, even though no law had been broken and no resident had been disturbed by the friendly meeting.

"These vehicles were either gathering in preparation to race, or were actually involved in street racing." Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton wrote. "...We are prepared to prosecute all parties to the full extent of the law."

Yeah the guy must have been doing this just for fun, but he does make a good point is it his fault that he drives a stock evo responsibly but he still gets pulled over?

No, he speeds, and has tickets from doing so. Officer sees the car, runs the plate, sees a record, then pulls him over.

I'm sorry but cops do this all the time in cali, i myself drive an evo. I have no record whatsoever and i never ever street race, I always take it to the track. But i got pulled over already here in norcal, driving my in laws back to SF i was going 70 on a 65 on cruise control I do have a catback but it's so quiet under cruise control. I don't have problem with authority i'm in the military and i'm always to defend cops, but that **** is such a hassle when you get pulled over just minding your business with in laws in the back asking me what did i do.

I am totally and completely against an officer looking for any reason to pull someone over just because they have had tickets and their car has a wing. No one should have to schedule every day with an extra hour cushion because they had some tickets and bought a car with a spoiler.

My Z is probably pretty 'riced' in the eyes of the cops, but so far none have hassled me. In Torrance they're pretty harsh, but it seems like they've grown used to seeing a lot of modified import vehicles that, for the most part, are still street legal. I guess it helps to work in the city where Toyota and Nissan have big presences...

The police are more than likely looking for stolen parts from chop shops!

I can't say whether or not cops do the job because they want to help the citizen or because it only takes 25 years to get a good pension along with decent pay. I will say this, however, law enforcement (specifically police) is the only proffession in which you can have a bad day and take it out on the people you work for (yes, cops do actually work for us, as long as you pay taxes). If I said half the **** cops have said to me to my boss I'd be unemployed.

We can agree to disagree because it looked to me like they were enjoying bashing that "ricer" way too much.

Its alright. When I'm on the job I'll remember I'm doing it so you have the right to disagree with me.

The OP may have not been the best at arguing his point, I could see that early on, but when I read this I closed the thread:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Just as an FYI I profile your POS rice rocket and YES I would have you pop the hood. It is not a search in MD to have you pop the hood. I am allowed by MD law once I have my PC for a stop to conduct a FULL vehicle inspection on the side of the road to include driving it for a breif distance if I so choose to. However thats a bit much. Poping the hood looking for the turbo or the NOS tubes is plenty enough for me.

If you refuse? Then you get to go to jail for failure to obay a lawful order and I yank you through the vent window, you go to jail, and I impound your car......after I inspect it."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great attitude for a cop. and they wonder why they're so universally loved. That guy should retire and take an anger management course.

I stopped reading at this line from one of the cops on there..

"First off, your 4th Amendment rights are not in question here. When a cop looks under your hood, it's an inspection....not a search."

FK YOU *******.. what a crock of ****..

If I was that guy I'd be pissed too, but he probably picked the wrong forum to bitch about it on.
