I got it yesterday and mailed it today. There was a "rumor" going out that if you dont fill it out and mail it, then you get a huge fine of $5K. Just a rumor...

The wording says something like "A fine up to $5,000."
However, according to what I've been reading through googling, they have never enforced this "law" and aren't even setup with guidelines as to how to enforce this and who would do it. According to what I'm reading, it's all empty threats.

Someone should file a suit against the government for encouraging illigil immigrants to fill it out, which in my mind is encouraging people to continue breaking the law.

As far as I'm concerned, even if I filled it out (which I HIGHLY doubt) due to my beliefs they don't have any businesses in my personal business, I'll tell them how many people live in my house, and that's about it.

Not a rumor, that is on the census website as one of the FAQ'S. Don't think that would ever happen though. Just a scare tactic.

I just got mine. I'm debating between answering questions 1 and 2 and leaving the rest blank. Or filling the rest out with bogus info. Like my name, for instance. I'm tempted to fill that in with Kim Jong Il.

haven't received mine yet. i got that letter in the mail last week informing me that i would get one. i wonder if they had a meeting to prepare for the meeting that would go over the logistics for sending out the letter informing folks that they'd get another letter.

11.3 billion spent on this census, which according to the radio equates to $50 for every single individual in the US. The most expensive in history and one of the lowest times in America. I'm voting against everyone currently in office in the next election to (attempt) to show them that Americans are tired of this kind of garbage.

. and there's the problem with big government, no way it should cost $50 a citizen to administer this, but that's the way of every gov't. program, most of the revenue goes to paying the gov't. employees who administer it, and very little makes it to the person or project for which it's intended.......... pathetic!!!

It costs the govt a lot more than $50 per illegal to put them through the system... so the libs like to throw money at them instead so they can eventually become voters. Crazy.

Those veteran politicians are doing a fine job of breaking the law and causing one scandal after another, thereby checking themselves out of the office. I just wish there was a faster way to get rid of them if we're not happy with their job.
