I got it yesterday and mailed it today. There was a "rumor" going out that if you dont fill it out and mail it, then you get a huge fine of $5K. Just a rumor...

The wording says something like "A fine up to $5,000."
However, according to what I've been reading through googling, they have never enforced this "law" and aren't even setup with guidelines as to how to enforce this and who would do it. According to what I'm reading, it's all empty threats.

Someone should file a suit against the government for encouraging illigil immigrants to fill it out, which in my mind is encouraging people to continue breaking the law.

As far as I'm concerned, even if I filled it out (which I HIGHLY doubt) due to my beliefs they don't have any businesses in my personal business, I'll tell them how many people live in my house, and that's about it.

Not a rumor, that is on the census website as one of the FAQ'S. Don't think that would ever happen though. Just a scare tactic.
