LOST the Final season: discussion thread
 

So I am a HUGE Lost fan. If I could name 3 things in life I couldnt do without it would be my Z, LOST, and of course equally beutifully shaped women.

So the premier of the 6th and final season of LOST was tonight, and I thought I would start a thread for fellow Z and LOST fans to discuss the new episodes, and post any theories of whats gunna happen.

Yeah I'm gonna get MORE LOST :)

Watched it lastnight. I have a few ideas about what is going on.

going to reveal something about myself some of you dont know.....

lost is probably the single most important thing in my life. if i had to choose between burning my GTR and not seeing how it all ends i would go get the gas can right now..
i love it to an obsessive amount where it interferes with my life, i even alienate people because all my conversations will turn into ones about lost..

i admit i almost cried when they were wheeling locke out of the plane to the piano music anyone got a problem with that :gtfo2:

stayed up and watched the premiere again on hulu without commercials to analyze. the commericals were killing me last night because i re watched all the seasons this summer on DVD and blu ray...



things i didnt notice the first time in LA X


-juliets comments about going for coffee seems to be her conciousness drifted into the alternate reality thus how she knew "it worked" ( i think we might see a scene with her and sawyer in the other reality)

-the airport lady refered to sun as ms paik instead of mrs kwon. ( maybe they arnt married)

-the water turned back clear after sayid "died" im not sure if it was dark at first and didnt work like it should because jacob was dead or it has something to do with his damned soul ( the convo he had with hurley).....it seems sayid said "what happened" in a different accent. either he isnt himself anymore ( dont think he is jacob) or just doesnt remember anything and is "not the same" just like what happened to little ben



things i dont know yet are:


now that we understand more about the ash... whos cabin was it? did jacob even ever stay there? if he did was the ash there to keep the smoke monster out or was it to trap him inside.... and who broke the ash ring? my guess is either hurley when he ran away from the eye or claire when she followed christian




was richard a slave or a prisoner on the black rock?

is the temple other guy "Dogan" ( the japanese dude) agless too

-whats up with christian's coffin, was it never loaded on the plane or did it flash off the plane as they crossed the sunken island

-whats up with desmond? is he interdimensional traveling?

-was charlie trying to kill himself or just botched the smuggling of his heroin. he told jack he was supposed to die, but i took that more as jack shouldnt have interfered with fate ( that he had written on his knuckles in the other reality) also remember when he almost choked to death when ethan hung him?

-cant figure out the sunken island i wouldnt assume jughead did it yet . we may be really seeing not a parallel universe but a 2004 universe thats created after and as a result too....what takes place on the island in 2007 kind of like how they showed us the oceanic 6 before they got off in season 4 .. i think jack has some memory of the reality we have been watching for 5 seasons..

-for the most part (besides jacks hair) they all looked like they were in 2004 although it hasnt confirmed that yet.

-why where there little kids at the temple ( not the ones from the plane) if the others cant have children


also i was right all along about fake locke being Man in black /smoke monster just not sure where is "HOME" is. some say its the temple but i think based on the comments about wanting the opposite of locke that its off island.... maybe tunisa which is the "exit"

also if christian was just him all along like yemi or if there is something more to christian than just the smoke monster pretending to be him.

if the smoke monster accounts for all the apperances of dead people "on" the island ...how did little ben see his mother and locke see walt?


got a bunch more but most of it would be ramblings so i need to gather my thoughts some more

Holy hell MC you analyzed the hell out of last night! Some interesting things there though. I'm going to go rewatch it, lol.

yeah its a sickness i have... and those are just the questions i got from rewatching the one episode this morning...love it though

i like it because not only are the characters great it really challenges you to think and noticing every little thing actually pays off although you sound pretty crazy discussing it with people who arnt into it.. my GF likes it but doesnt go that deep into it like i do so i was annoying the **** out of her when i was like even though thats some piss poor CG hey i think that shark had a dharma logo on it or the underwater statue has a fallen ankh beside it when the one in 2007 beside the beach doesnt... she is like WTF :rofl2:

looking foward to next week, to find out whats up with sayid and i think titus welliver as the Man in Black is back in some fashion, want to see how that plays out

MC I totally hear ya about being obsessed with LOST. I cant even skip a single second or frame. You have some pretty good theories and found some good stuff I didnt realize.

Heres my theory, tell me what you think..

I think that Jacob is actually the bad guy. Those people from Ajira flight with the guns that said that were body guards for Jacob claimed that "they were the good guys" Idk about you but almost every movie the bad guys always say "but we are the good guys".

So in saying that I think Jacob is evil and fake locke, MIB, smoke monster, or whatever we want to call him is really the good guy. I think he might even be in some sense Jesus. Take Locke for example, he has never ever been evil in anyway, in a sense he believed in something, when all others outcast him, but over time he gathered followers to accept his faith. (also see the picture I have attached, its the great supper scene, and locke is sitting in jesus's seat)

Also at the very end, fake locke says to everyone on the beach "I'm very dissapointed in all of you" ....Maybe he is dissapointed that after thousands of years, the world has lost faith in him(jesus)

Just a little note, I am NOT a religious person by no means, Im just stating facts about the whole idea of catholocism and how it is seaming to relate to LOST.

Another thing, the fountain they brought Sayid to, could this possibly be the Fountain of Life?? Maybe that is how Richard has not aged (one of the effects from drinking out of the fountain of life) It also looks like the temple is of some Mayan design, but also has egyptian glyphs. Maybe that temple is one of the oldest of its kind, from the beginning of "time" and human life, which has a collaberation of all ancient civilazations. (Kind of like that AvP movie)

yeah i dont wouldnt say its a black and white as jacob is purely good and MIB is purely evil

there is alot of religious/philosophical metaphors and imagery but i wouldnt say anything its literal like someone is actually jesus or the devil or thats actually jacob and essau ( youve got egyptian ..the hyrogliphs and the images of anubis ( summoning the smoke monster) and thawert ( the statue) and youve got christian too with saviors ( he who will save us all) and the idea of redemption, not to mention some eastern themes too ) so its got alot of that but to me its about seemingly oppossing concepts

jacob represents free will ( think the progress comments and what he told ben before he was stabbed) MIB is fate ( they have no choice and it will always end the same)

the same as john is man of faith jack is man of science..

i dont even think jacob and MIB are equals, i think jacob has created this game and is and using humanity as the game pieces. i think its all to prove a point about free will ( choice, faith) vs determinism (fate, science) so i dont think he is evil because it seems he does believe in humanity i just think its just a game to him the players are expendable and its thats been repeated time after time after time and the MIB has been forced to play along all that time and has grown tired of it.

everything youve seen on the island has been a play to find the loophole in some preset rules they have to play by ( it seems ben and widmore have to play by those rules too) the whole compass thing and how that started the false belief that locke was special is just an awesome mind **** that i cant even begin to go into.

it seems jacob knew that MIB might find a loophole and seems to have a back up plan just incase. ( i think they they're coming refers to the people he touched/on that list. not his body guards.

im still confused on who was using the cabin and if the others were taking orders from MIB impersonating jacob..remember in season 2 sawyer , kate and juliet were being forced to build the runway for ajira 316 on hydra island.. remember the others said jacob told them to build it.. so why would he tell them to biuld the runway that led to his death..unless it was all planned.

oh and i a new theory now about the sunken island and believe it or not its sort of SIMPLE..

in the alternate reality they never crashed and thus they never went back in time to 77' to detonate the bomb.... the bomb acted as the original failsafe key and stopped ( or atleast controled) the electromagnetic energy from destroying the island that dharma was about to release from drilling too deep.... my proof is the failsafe key... dharma learned from the jughead incident that as a last resort they can use a small nuclear blast to contain it.. so the alternate reality is what if the island never existed past the point of the incident... which could some how account for all the differences weve seen in a butterfly effect sort of wat and that could mean alot of people dont exist in this new reality

basically they crashed on the island in 2004 because they detonated the bomb in 77 so there would be an island to crash on in 2004.. think of it as an endless loop like richard giving the compass to locke in 2007 and locke giving it back to richard in 1954 so he could give it back to locke in 2007... the compass doesnt exist outside of that loop..

ahhhh!!! haha good points! Idk man, but LOST has to be the greatest thing ever invented. No book, movie, or anything has captivated my imagination so much before. Can you imagine if everyone was this creative and there was other tv shows such as lost out there to watch? I mean LOST even forced the president of the united states to move out of its way!

the two realities post jughead explosion could be like the Schrödinger's cat expeiriment. basically dumbed down it states if you put a cat in a box and expose it to a posion the cat is both alive and dead until you open the box and find out. so faradays plan " worked" and didnt work at the same time

not sure about the non interacting part.. my craziest theory and probably most wrong is that maybe they bleed into each other and its the island that can merge them... so the reason that locke isnt paralyzed in the reality that we are used to is that jack fixed him in the new reality... but the problem with that is when he lost faith in the island and he couldnt walk anymore... so i think its more along the lines that it was an trick by MIB to make him think he was special..

This is what I've been thinking is going on. I cannot wait until it's over so we can go back and start all over to see all the things we didn't "see" before. I don't want it to ever end, but I need answers!

wow you guys are some crazy bastards but i love it. the Lost crew better handle the ending of this show very carefully. it could turn into the greatest story ever or the biggest waste of 5 years of millions of peoples lives.

and i completely agree with MC's alternate reality post. some people on other sites inlcuding abc.com were saying, "oh they messed up cuz Desmond was never on the plane cuz he was pushing the button in the hatch" in the premiere. but they didnt realize that if the island as we knew it never existed because they "stopped" it, then there would be no reason for him to be in the hatch pressing the button.

still cant wait to see how they are all tied together and why.

ALSO, pretty creepy to have the chessboard promo with Radioheads "Everything in its right place" ...hmm ...

and oh yeah, almost forgot. probly the best part, i recognize where they shoot most of the scenes. i grew up at the foot of that mountain range thats always in the background, the airport scenes on the premiere are in Honolulu, the little village where the others lived is where we would go on our elementary school camping trip, the house where kate lived with claires kid is in Kahala a RICH *** neighborhood east of waikiki... i could go on and on. feels pretty cool to know the actual locations on the show but my wife gets annoyed with me.

god i hope they have jessica biel as a guest star this season so i can find her and get her pregnant.

Haha, yea lemme know too! Man after LOST, theres no other place I want to go visit. After LOST ends, if I ever go on vacation there we def have to meet up so you can show me all these places!

hah, no prob man. you'll be surprised how they made some of the areas look like they were actually on location in Russia, Africa, Thailand, London... crazy hollywood people.

Alright so after watching the premiere again, and the little charlie bit. It seems like by the way he says what he says, way he words things. I think this charlie we are seeing is actually the same charlie from the other reality.

Desmond tried time and time again to save charlie but finally charlie just wanted to die and prevented desmond from saving him at the looking glass.

After Jack revives him its kind of like charlie waking up from that death and being like, "wtf dude now I have to die again soon in some other painful and miserable way" lol.

Also one other thing with the island being underwater and all the mythic things about it. COULD THE ISLAND BE ATLANTIS???

re Schrödinger's cat, it seems that J J Abrams is obsessed with the concept... shows up in Lost, Fringe, and even the new Star Trek... to me, it is a more rationale construct for how time works than the old sci-fi standby of linear time and time travel causing disruptions in space-time continua... anyways +1 for you guys being over the top analytical about the show - but I love it! :)

my review and ramblings for this week


there seems to be alot of mixed feelings about "what kate does" at first i was a little dissapointed but when i watched it again i started to come around to it. its just my expectation were so high and there is so much mythology to answer and then they throw us a kate episode. they are usually the weakest character centric story lines... but it was important if you step back and think about it.... she potentially did in the other timeline what she set out to do on the island.. . it seems claire might now keep aaron in the new timeline.....

the other important part was kate had the weird deja vu when she saw jack just like he had on the plane ( why she didnt have it when she bumped into him and stole his pen or to sawyer in the elevator i dunno) she also had it when claire called the baby aaron... so it seems they have some memory or conciousness from the original timeline....

also seeing ethan was a nice touch and the whole medicine/needle thing was good irony... when aaron stopped moving..did anyone realize thats what he did on the island aswell? also her ultrasound said 10/22/2004 where in the other timeline it was 9/22/2004.. and the last small thing that i actually had to read about and didnt notice for myself was the killer whale stuffed animal was the same one aaron was holding when he heard kate and jack argue over him and (uncle) jack told kate he isnt even related to you

the high point for me is we got some light shed on what "the sickness" is. its been talked about since season1 and it seems its a way for the MIB to possibly control dead bodies ( not impersonate them like he is doing with locke) so this might explain christian ( not sure on this one yet) the whole french team, yemi and now claire... i guess sayid did actually die and since they didnt know jacob was dead the darkness infected him because they didnt bury him immediately? so it looks like the bodies are reanimated with their own personality that is slowly taken over by the darkness..... if christian is like this and not just MIB faking him... it seems thats why he told locke "to say hello to my son" but on the other hand how could he appear to michael on the freighter if he was actually just a reanimated infected dead body?

which now i think might prove claire died in the RPG blast to the barracks... remember miles looked at her funny in season 4 just like he looked at sayid. and when she left her bady to follow christian i guess she was completley infected and under somones control?

so yeah i mean im not complaining but atleast we got a kate episode out of the way... season 6 copies season 1 in the order of character centric episodes...to that means next week is a locke episode which could be one of the best of the season..

Simple - whats happening on the island will end up transforming into what happens on the plane... instead of both being "alternate" realities - they are simply showing us a flash forward (the plane etc) which will come about after they *somehow* leave the island...

I find this character / actor to be a detractor from the show... thoughts?

well the events on the island are 2007 the flash sideways are october 2004

this is what i think it is.... i will use sawyer as an example in 1977 he told jack his parents died a year ago and he could have gone and stopped it but whats done is done..... ok so that means at that exact same time back in the US there is like a 8 year old ( or whatever age is was) sawyer that exists..... still follow me? ok that sawyer in 27 years will board oceanic 815.... this is the same for every character... i think the flashsideways are of the versions of them who grow up slightly different and in 2004 dont crash on the island...

that would retain what happened happened for the one timeline and leave a new timeline at the same time

oh and here is a wild theory of mine... that has some holes in it because .. hurely and sayid were touched post flight 815... but ...whos to say jacob wasnt touching the other losties in the other timeline where the plane didnt crash... that could be how they have some deja vu of the original time... my theory might be disproven if it turns out that lockes dad didnt push him out the window and sun and jin arnt married

dont mind kenny powers brother lol , he is just a mouth piece for dogan and i think it adds to dogan being mysterious... but i was annoyed by the guy who played aldo last night glad he took 2 in the chest from evil/zombie/jungle claire



did anyone last night think that the couple claire was supposed to give the baby too was going to be a huge WTF? like it was always a mystery who that was gonna be for a short time in the original timeline the "nice couple" was actually jack and kate .....

i had all types of **** running though my head... i was like what if it was ben and annie and it was the symmetry that he took Rousseau maybe in one time line and claires in the other...

^haha when the lady first opened the door I thought it was going to be claires mother.

I too thought this episode was kinda week, specially with only 15 episodes left EVER. You would think every single episode is going to be mind blowing.

Guess we will have to wait till next week.

P.S. I feel bad for Sawyer

oh and speaking of claire has anyone else seen this deleted scene from season 4? to me it makes me think she did die and was reanimated ("claimed") with out her knowledge like sayid

ok so that was the most BOMBSHELL episode of lost EVER , im having a mental overload

i will wait until it airs on the west coast to discuss theories

but wow the numbers are answered and the reason why their lives are different in the other timeline is answered

it depends on if you believe the MIB.. i thnk there are some truths in there but i think his motives are false... it seems that everyone we saw touched ( except kate) is a canidate for protector of the island. and jacob and been luring them there their whole lives.. this also explains why their lives are differnt before they changed things in 1977.. jacobs influence is compeltely removed from their lives... thats why the plane crashed thats why they were told they shouldnt have left and so on... i think the canidate thing is real because Llana is not on MIB's side and she brought it up last season.. and he said the island isnt special...well it obviously is... ya know with the whole time travel donkey wheel , healing powers and.. well a smoke monster..... but im hoping we will hear jacobs side next week... the whole revelation that MIB was a human at some point and lost someone he loved i think is true too but im not 100% that he doesnt want to kill the remaining canidates ( i guess so there would be no need for this "game" anymore maybe) and he is using sawyer.. much like he used ben.. i mean we saw him scoping out a drunk broken sawyer in smoke form before he approached him



the 3 main questions i have after this episode are..

#1if jacob has been luring all those names to the island... then why did he touch hurley and sayid AFTER the crash in 2004... and for that matter why did he touch Kate if she isnt one of the numbers....... ( i would guess it implies that jacob might have influenced things in other ways besides just touching them for example is possible he was responsible for the winning lottery ticket that now we know are his numbers)

#2 is obvious.... who the **** is that kid.... top answers being discussed are young ghost jacob ( thats possible to me) Aaron ( i think thats a stretch) and my theory that he was a manifestation of the island itself possibly using someone from MIB's past to convey the message about the rules and not killing sawyer


and #3 why cant MIB shift forms anymore....( per what Llana told ben) in my opinon is has to be because jacob is dead... because we saw him change into alex to trick ben only a few episodes ago and if he is indeed christian he changed into him when sun and lapidus were at the barracks.... so it cant be just because he changed into locke...

oh and i think i found a mistake in the show... remember the sonagram of claires baby dates 10-22-2004 that implied the new timeline 815 laned exactly 1 month later.... well if thats so why would randy and helen both refer to lockes wedding as being in october ( future tense) and speaking of the wedding who thinks jack will fix his back by then and he will walk at it just like jacks wife did at theirs.... and i bet boone will save the wedding catering problem ( helens phone convo) remember he runs a wedding catering service for his mom

but yeah all in all one of the best episodes of lost in a while...

the part with ben as the teacher was cool.. i think we will see some classic scenes with him and locke now off island..... and one little intereting side note point was... locke was a biology teacher..so he is literally a man of science in this world.. ( remember when richard visited locke as a teen and said he had alot or potential in science)

Simple...

#1 : Jacob touched kate and the others who arnt candidates simply cus they needed to also be there in order to ensure the candidates lives went the way jacob wanted it to go - in which case - did he expect to be killed ala ben?

#2 : the kid i think is not jacob but the MIB himself... kinda looked like him to me w/ the eyes etc... who knows maybe the kid is god :p

So... I think... MIB is now "free" to be off the island... except he is now trapped in locke's body... you notice him saying "you cant tell me what i cant do" as Locke in the wheelchair and as the MIB...

Interesting episode... they better keep up the hype...

yeah thats does make sense that they where drawn there almost in like a supporting role for the actual canidates....... but it appeared kates name was on the list in the ankh ( because they didnt kill her) so if you assume that list was the final canidates and jacob wanted them protected then im still confused about the lack of kates name on the wall



i think he did expect to be killed.. or atleast had a backup plan just incase... i think thats why he told hurely to get on ajira 316 because he knew hurely could communicate with him on the island... also i think he didnt fight being killed because he knew he lost the game ( or atleast this part of ) or he knew the real canidate was now on the island ( they're coming)

i hope the ending isnt too predicatable like jack is the canidate and has to sacrafice himself to take that role so everyone else can leave.....


as for the kid i hope there is a MIB flashback ( im guessing tiitus welliver was his true form?) that maybe has the kid in it

I gave up on Lost after season 2 and part of 3. It became mindless for me. I tried to get back into it in the second to last season, but.... things stopped making any sense a long time ago, and I felt like the writers were just making stuff up randomly to keep it going.

if you ask me this season is weird as hell so far, idk.

Yea, not getting many answers, not wowed like i was last season

i think tonight we got a few answers..... it seems MIB and christian are not one in the same we also found out the that infected/claimed are indeed the MIB's resurected minion.

also jack is probably going to be "the" canidate... also got some clarification from last week.. kate's name was missing from the cave but it was on the lighthouse wheel as #51 and wasnt marked out.... so she is a candidate.... also got to see how jacob has been watching the candidates their whole lives..

everyone was going crazy saying who is 108 ?... well if you freeze frame its wallace... and is already crossed out.... its probably not important.. i think jacob was lying to hurley about someone coming to the island... he was all to get jack to the lighthouse knowing jack would see his own # and look into the mirror this will give jack the purpose he needs to do something later in the show( im guessing sacraficing himself to save the island and his friends)


not sure what to say about his flash sideways.... i guess it gives some closure to his daddy issues by him not repeating the same ways with shocker..........his SON!

to me it seems like the flashes are just Epilogues to the story of lost.. the whole scar thing made you gasp at first because we all know juliet removed his appendix on the island... but i mean his moms not going to lie about him getting it out when he was 7 years old in this universe... but the fact that he noticed it in another deja vu way is interesting.... so far it seems only him and kate are semi aware of the other universe..( could it be something to do with them being the adam and eve skeletons and not rose and benard.... doubt its but possible i guess)
