alright MC.. i meant to post about tonights episode, but after seeing the trailer for next week's episode, that's all i can think about. we're due for a breakthrough episode

Wow ... pretty crazy episode... not too much happened but i guess ill wait for the west coast feed to air before revealing anything...

yeah i think the hardcore lost fans are gonna tear this episode apart.. like i see where some are saying it was right there with what kate does... im not saying it was worthless because i found out about widmore and then the mommy issues thing... like WTF?

those are the only real 2 points i think are worth discussing.. and spending some time on.... everything else was shirtless filler.. and it was mean to make us think juliet when it wasnt... im not saying its wasnt good.. it fits in the context of the story they are telling ... like for instance if you had season 6 on DVD then you could have watched it and moved on... it just sucks with so little time left you have to wait 7 days then get a episode that is so so ..... but then there is next week which should provide many many answers so im just getting ready for that instead of dwelling on the mediocre "recon" but lost did this to us last year after the kickass Dead is Dead they showed some like it hoth....

once it airs on west coast i do want to hear what everyone thinks about the revelation of what "team" widmore might be on and of course MIB's little speech to kate and who is in the locked room...

here is a teaser for next week's "Ab Aeterno" from eonline.. they said that jacob tells ricard what the island is and its described as a four letter word....hmmm

I like a ton of TV shows, but this is the only one i'd sit and watch ALL over again.. Despite knowing how it ends, it'll be a blast putting all the pieces together.. also ZERO commercials, which would mean I could watch all episodes in about 7 hours LOL

Wow im surprised all of you didnt really like tonights episode. I thought it was Awesome! Seeing how sawyer is actually a cop in the alternate reality was a BIG surprise, i mean i had a big hunch that he was gunna be a good guy instead of a con man, but never a cop going after con men himself! And that Miles is his partner (do you think Miles can still sense the dead?) Its just like sawyer and miles back when they were running security in the 70's for dharma. That made a BIG thing with charlies brother, usually they only hint very vaguely and other characters (like lockes wife talking to boon's catering company on the phone) but this was pretty prominent. Charlie and Desmond are both the two biggest episodes im waiting for. But honestly I there was a lot more i wanted to see with this sawyer story, and i wish this episode was a bit longer.

Btw lost has always had episodes centered on specific characters, but here and there with a majority of the episodes dealing with the group or a big event as a whole. But this season, its like each episode is like, oh next week is gunna be the "ben episode", oh next week is gunna be the "sawyer episode". I think its kinda weird imho

i actually guessed he was a detective ( well cop of some kind maybe) before the show aired... i saw one of the sneak peaks on ABC.com of him and the girl (from prison break) at the first and i was like man that looks like a sting... then i thought about him being sincere about warning hurley not to talk about how much money he had on the plane... and then i thought if jacob didnt push him to finish the letter then he might not have made the choices he did... so yeah i sorta saw that coming... didnt think about the miles and dharma security connection..until miles came busting in the room.... that makes it more obvious now looking back....

yeah speaking of the wedding and this episode....i think that sawyer will find out that an anthony cooper will be in town for lockes wedding and show up there to find out if he is "sawyer" i think we are going to get alot of paths crossing at lockes wedding.. still pissed it wasnt juliet and was charlotte i was waiting for her to show up and talk about going dutch on coffee ( you know her dying words during LA X... that would really change what our percption of the sideways world is.....





ok now that its aired on the west coast... here we go

uhh MIB had a crazy mother and has growing pains due to it?...WHAAAT... like she messed his mind up or something? i mean this just opens up the doors to crazy speculation... i always assumed jacob made him the smoke monster but now the crazy mother... who knows.. did jacob draw his (canidate) mother to the island and he was born there to a crazy mother and he blames jacob for it? this is what im initially going with......




or whenever time he is from he had a crazy mother that cursed him? is this on the island or was it from his home? is this the backstory from another time they are hinting at for episode 15? his mother might be like an egyptian queen


ok on to widmore.... i said last week immediately after the episode i thought he was coming to take MIB off the island in exchange for getting the island back ( same deal that ben was offered) but then sunday night i watched the jeremy bentham episode and the scene with widmore and locke got me rethinking everything. he told locke he had peacefully protected the island for years until ben banished him and he would help locke get his friends back ( did he know they were canidates?) and make sure he stays alive because there was a war coming and if locke didnt return to the island the WRONG side would win....

at first i thought that meant he would get locke body back to the island so MIB could take its form and carry out the plan to kill jacob.... but now i see it differently

i mean widmore had the sonic fences so i believe he is there to stop MIB.. now if he is actually working for jacob im not sure yet... because if you remember when bram tried to recruit miles he said miles was working for the wrong side (widmores) and bram was definately on team jacob

so is widmore on his own side and using jacobs death as a time to seize back control of the island.... but then again jacob did say someone is coming to the island... but that was 108 wallace not widmore...


and finally im guessing desmond and maybe penny? are locked in that sub room? wouldnt be suprised if eloise was on the sub too

ok i just rewatched a few important parts on hulu and something seems a strange the 2nd time through... is the audience being conned?

first of all the ajira plane has the front windows busted out and is that thing even capable of flying again ? 2nd .... sawyer is the one who volunteered the notion that widmore was there to kill or do harm to MIB widmore never confirmed it...he just smiled when sawyer was talking.... then sawyer goes back to the main island and MIB admits he didnt send sawyer over there to do recon on the passengers... so what did he send him over there for?

here is a out of left field theory

is it possible its a con and MIB and widmore really are working together? it might make sense except for the sonic fence being set up... that would seem to prove he and MIB arnt on the same side... but how about if its something crazy like a permanent body for MIB is locked in that room not a cast member like desmond..... maybe the smoke monster form is a curse MIB can be seperated from it ( maybe that explains the disembodied person in the rocking chair in the cabin.. and the sonic fence is maybe to keep the smoke monster away once seperated...

unlikley i know but rewatching it , it just doesnt make sense.. i dont believe MIB ever intends to use Ajira 316 he sent sawyer over there because he knew widmore was there.... also the part where claire cried and made up with kate seemed contrived..maybe he told her to "play nice" to kate after he pimp smacked her then whispered something in her ear.. she is claimed you know...


maybe im just trying to make more out of the episode than what it really was.. but the episode was called recon.. and if you go back and watch it ... i dont think things are as they seem.. i doubt the sonic fence theory is true but im do think MIB is one step ahead of sawyer

A few quick comments:

1.) Miles's ability to speak to the dead seemingly came after he and his mother left the island (in preparation for the explosion?). It's possible that, in the flash sideways, he never received that "gift" (like Locke's walking or Richard's immortality). That would make him one hell of a detective though!

2.) Why did it seem that Charlotte was looking for something? She didn't seem to simply be snooping around. She seemed intent on finding something specific. Do you think Cooper hired her? Maybe Miles is setting something up?

3.) I agree with MC on the possibility of MIB and Widmore working together. His smirk when Sawyer said he's walk MIB right into Widmore's trap told a story. The reason Widmore is there is still unknown, but I seriously doubt his plan is to kill MIB. His arrival after Jacob died is too coicidental.

4.) Next week's episode may rival "The Constant" as my favorite episode so far!

1) yeah i doubt he has his powers but i remember seeing that his last name was on the cave wall lst.. so i bet jacob was why he could hear the deads last thoughts.. so if the sideways is a world without jacobs interference then yeah no powers..

2) well her and miles i guess were friends as kids on the island and they stayed friends after they left or were evacuated... also he mentioned his dad so it looks like he got off the island too before it sank.. in the original timeline she wanted to find the island again, but i didnt get that impression i dunno i think her story is over she was just a blind date in my opinon and her curiosity was a plot device to show how sawyer is still chasing anthony cooper

3) one more thing to add to my theory that supports this.. MIB told ben to meet them at the hydra when he offered ben the island... well he must have known widmore was there... he was leading ben right to a slaughter.. i mean in the shows time it cant be but a few weeks at the most after ben tried to kill penny... so i think by ben choosing to stay he might have prolonged his life...



4) i know for a fact next weeks richard episode is jaw dropping.. last night i was looking at something online and a link said official ABC Promo pics for lost episode 9... well i clicked it expecting to see pics of them sitting around the camp fire or something but... no those pics were crazy one even featured a certain someone... i mean i didnt spoil myself its just a visual confirmation of what i already know the episode will be about... still i would say dont look at them if you want to maximum shock value.

i guess i take the episode for what it is i mean there is still a part of me that doesnt believe things are as they seem between jacob and MIB…

the island is a cork that holds in all the darkness/evil in the world.. this late in the show im going to take jacobs word for it because it jives with his private conversation with MIB on the beach in "the incident" about proving MIB wrong about humanity...and to richard he spoke some core truths that we know the show is really about like your past life not mattering on the island (2nd chance redemption) and letting people make the choice ( like ben stabbing him and letting jack realize things on his own)

but the big issue i have is if he (MIB) is really just evil incarnate then what of all this talk about how he was a person and then jacob betrayed him and stole his body and his humanity... and what does that mean like literally he looked like jacob or jacob took away his physical form so he couldnt leave the island?… does this have something to do with the kids in the jungle? so what im saying is yeah MIB i think is lying to everyone and h.... but i do believe all this i was a human once talk of his... how can that be if jacob describes him as being almost a metaphor or embodiment of evil.. must be more to it..

i think jacob is forcing him into this role almost like how MIB told kate about wanting to create an enemy... i do think MIB is bad/evil but i think he has his reasons... i dont think it boils down to just a parable of good vs evil

is it possible him and jacob two parts of the same enity? could be why that havent dropped his name yet..

if you recall, Smokey in Locke form told Kate he had a crazy mother which leads to the assumption (unless smokey was lying) that he was once a man and then later alludes again to it that Jacob took his human form...who on the show has a crazy mother? the only one i can think of is Faraday - Eloise seemed to be pretty crazy

I'll be pretty upset if there isn't any more to it other than Jacob using the island to keep evil trapped there forever. What we need now is a MIB centric episode, which I'm sure we'll get....hopefully.

I was actually kind of disappointed in the Richard episode. Sure, they told a great story about why he's there and what his role is, but I think they focused way too much of what brought him to the island, instead of what he's done on the island and/or what he knows about it.

i think thats the point he doesnt know anything or well slightly more than everyone else brought there.... thats why he was so upset.. jacob probably gave him vague orders for all these years with no explaination...


it was important because i think before richard mib and jacobs morality "game" was less organized mib had probably never thought to have someone else kill jacob and jacob never thought to have a go between before... so im guessing post richard is how the others became the others like he would tell them about jacob and the island

the last scene was mib plotting to kill jacob again.. if you cant uncork the bottle to let it out then you break the bottle......

speaking of that made a funny observation... MIB is locked in a metaphoric bottle..... grants wishes to the people he recruits and appears as smoke... uh yeah he is a damn genie lol

as for a MIB episode.. im guessing thats what episode 15 is about... the one where they said takes place in a different time and place with no regular cast members... i used to think it was acient egypt but what was that dagger like roman?

MIB is the devil, and he wants to leave the island so badly to spread evil firsthand on Earth- eventually taking it over.. I always knew CCD would pay off lol

widmore talked about sacraficing desmond in the trailer for next week... and we know they are looking for electromagnetic pockets.... so if the failsafe key explosion...caused his mind to leap into different times in his own life... maybe the electromagnetism can allow him to leap into whatever the sideways is..what his mission is there.. i dunno.. maybe it has something to do with.. what lies in the shadow of the statue.... (locke) he who will save us all


also what is the link between sun being shot in the sideways.. loosing conciousness in the island time and then not being able to speak english? hmm... it has to be connected.. i dont believe its just a plot device from hitting her head

I agree with you. It seems that the two time lines cross each other. So as she was shot in one world, she lost a little bit of herself in the other. But, if you notice the use of the tomatoes resilience sometime after. Jack said something along the lines of..Someone never told this tomato it was supposed to die. Foreshadowing her perseverance into the future. Now obviously, I can assume Jack will be the person to save her life in the hospital that Jin just "happens" to take her to since shes been shot.

give me a minute.. i think i need to watch it again i was talking all through it bouncing theories off my brother the whole time..... im very confused... i guess atleast the popular theory of the sideways being some sort of epilogue is now debunked... i dunno i think it might be some type of prison they are unknowingly trapped in because they "think" they are more content in that world.. maybe jacob created it and maybe MIB knows about it and thats what he wants to escape from, i mean desmond "waking" up the others matrix style is sort of what MIB is doing by having all the canidates leave together... like no more game pieces ...no more game maybe?

but the questions i have is did widmore know that would happen during the EM test?.. i think no because that was just a test to see if desmond could handle the EM ... but where was zoe taking him? like to the real EM pocket...what was supposed to happen there the same thing?

and eloise... like she seems aware that they are in this world that isnt supposed to be.... i guess she got off the island pregnant with daniel?... i think maybe she made some deal with whoever in exchange for having her son back.. she talked about a "violation" but of what.. this is begining to seems matrix and "the prisoner"(ery) i know the original show is differnet but in the AMC remake.. in that show like their conciousness goes to this place where it can heal from all the bad things that have happened to them and when you become aware of that reality it stops existing..

oh and one more thought charlie had a vision of claire as he was choking right? so he had a vision of the island timeline.. juliet as she was dying had a vision of the sideways (coffe shop with sawyer?) so whats up with that?



and random trivia.. the paiting of the scales in widmores office and the fact that daniel's last name wasnt faraday because no paradox... his name was farady because he traveled back to tell his mom that name so she named him that and he grew up to travel back in time to... tell her that name in an endless loop like the compass

The way I see it is this. This is speculation based off of quantum theory.

When the atomic bomb exploded. The world split off into 2 paradoxical time lines. But, they are indeed connected. Hence why they are getting flashes of memory going back to the island. Now remember, we've seen them time hoping back and forth throughout lost. And we've even seen them go back in time.

Faraday never became a scientist, therefore he continued his musical career. But he can remember his scientific studies because the lives are intertwined with those on the island. Just how jack had to ask about his appendix scar, almost like how Desmond now can consciously control both time lines.

There are others like Daniel's mom who know what is going on. But, they are not ordinary people. If you remember correctly, Eloise was also intruding on Desmond's time hoping previously when he wanted to buy a ring for Penny.

I'm sorry I'm ranting I'll stop for now and give this some time. Maybe I can be more coherent later.

Ok, since we're throwing out theories... Widmore was testing to see if Desmond would survive the EM, which would be verification that they are in a parallel existence... because Desmond is immortal in all but the true time/existence, as Widmore somehow knew... Widmore also wanted to 'awaken' Desmond to the reality of his various existences. Desmond is 'not ready' to handle all the truths about branching realities, which will cause problems in the final episodes... and if Desmond is 'not ready' then it doesn't bode well that he asked for the manifest and decided that everyone else needs to be enlightened about the branched realities... perhaps by 'enlightening them', he dooms them to the island in the first place... Desmond's existence on the island has become aware of the many branches and seeks to converge them or close off that branch... those that exist permanently on the island seek to guard against that branch being closed off

haha the whole lost crew is smart - they purposely started calling it the "plot sideways" when all along.. it was the plot future lol... smart move i guess

yeah and she showed him the guy in the red shoes (dharma logo i think) who all that **** fell on.. she knew how everything happened and was going to happen.. the way i always rationalized this was... she had faradays journal from when she shot him in the 70's if he wrote down about how desmond came to the island and pressed the button then the plane crashed and and then he flashed back to meet him at oxford and all that then she knew all of that.. didnt she say in season 5 somthing like for the first time i dont know what happens next?

i also always thought widmore was in on it too.. like he was cruel to desmond so desmond would try to get his approval which would make him join the sail boat race which would send him to the island..

i always thought they both knew his ultimate destiny and were making sure he stayed on that path..

it might be like donnie darko where a tangent universe was created and is making the other unstable ... widmore brought up how things will cease to exist if MIB leaves the island
( im guessing with the other remaining canidates) ... im not sure how he(MIB) is linked to it all but something ceasing to exist sounds like an implosion of a timeline to me..

if this is what we are seeing i dont think the bomb created it.. the bomb maintained the main island timeline .... i think the lack of the bomb created it.. the bomb was like the failsafe and possible saved the island from sinking from the EM leakage at the drilling site.. the lack of the bomb caused the tangent universe maybe?

but then its like a paradox. they flew over the sunken island and didnt crash but the island was sunken because.. they didnt crash on it ( to eventually detonate the bomb)


so im not sure that theory does it for me... you have this story about seemingly multiverses which is more scientific then you have this whole jacob vs MIB myth type story.. i cant yet see how its connected i keep going back to how this is a game jacob is playing and maybe this other sideways is part of it... and damon and carlton both said dont call it an alternate universe..

so ok i will take them at their word for a minute... what if its not a alternate universe what if its like a false created shared conciousness ( related to jacob or MIB's offers about saving/seeing loved ones again and all that) and it isnt actually a living breathing reality.. that would mean people like jacks son.. arnt real?

so many questions.

next week i see is a hurley episode ( the last single character centric episode of lost i think) maybe all those people he has seen arnt ghosts.. maybe they are versions of the people from the sideways? but then what about isabella? ok in talking in circles now

interesting, but multiple paths of reality is much more plausible than multiple conciousnesses... remember that the characters have shared experiences... you're prob teeing off the fact that desmond and hobbit weren't in sync with each other's shared experiences, but that can be explained by the fact that in that 1 existence they were both new to the idea of multiple branches of reality... once 1-2 of the branches beging to realize there are other branches, they seek them out and are COMPELLED to connect them... like widmore's wife obviously had done much earlier in her life... it's clearly a slippery slope and once you venture down that path you are destined for the island or something else... that's what widmore is doing as well

ok so mimicking an experience in the sideways from the island world triggers awareness its not just a near death experience i dont think

1) charlie choking on the plane was like him either drowning or even from when ethan hung him...

2) desmond seeing charlie drown and the hand on the glass triggered his

3) hurley and libby on the beach with the kiss ( the whole soulmate thing)

4) locke being hit recreated the falling from the window? ( its obvious thats not how he was paralyzed in the sideways


so whos next? here is my guess... jack operates to save locke and has to do the count to 5 and let the fear in thing?

speaking of hospital we have sun, jin, claire, charlie, jack and sayid either at the hospital or linked to it... im guessing this is where everyone reconnects? i had thought lockes wedding but now... who knows... hurley sawyer and kate i dont know ...


ok if desmond is so quick to run down locke like that, is that telling us that this reality doesnt matter as much as the island one? or is it the one that goes away? if so what does that mean for david?

next weeks episode is called the last recruit and im guessing from that final look and locke on his way to the hospital we will see alot of him and jack... how about if jack isnt the canidate but instead joins team MIB? does MIB even know about the sideways? if so could he use the knowledge of jacks other reality with a son as leverage?

i dunno... also found out after next week Lost doesnt come back until may 4th :(

if MIB was christian the entire time then

#1 how was he on the freighter when he cant travel over water and why where there whispers before he appeared to michael and said you can go now ( or was that ghost christian welcoming michael to there little ghost trapped on the island thing?)


#2 who was the eye in the cabin that hurlley saw when christain was in the rocking chair?

#3 how did he appear to jack in the hospital if he cant leave the island?

dude... charlie and libby know of the other person in the "sideways" simply because they are dead on the island... the sideways is hardly sideways... its more like "infrontways" lol... whatever happens on the island happens and then progresses to become the so called "sideways" It certainly has to occur after what happens in the island...
