"Mortgage rates inch up, lingering above 7%" If you have the means and ability to buy a home, then by all means proceed. You can always refinance the home when rates drop, all the while you are building wealth/equity. That being said, for those that are wondering when rates will drop, a very strong indicator of where mortgage rates are headed is inflation, as these 2 have a very strong correlation with each other. Contrary to popular belief, the Federal Reserve does NOT set/determine mortgage rates.
