Central Florida, East Orlando - only heavy rains and winds. Woke up at 3am on Thursday to the ‘brunt’ of what I was going to get. Neighborhood I’m in did not have any issues with flooding, though less than 15 minutes away by UCF area, massive water and flood damage to several areas.

Positive vibes to those that got it worse.

south florida on the east side, we got very very lucky.. lots rain and win, a couple tornado warnings, and a day and half off of work.. sums it up.

Very lucky here. Very little damage. Generator worked well.

It was suppose to hit Tampa directly, but shifted at the last minute and went south of us. No flooding or damage here. It honestly just felt like a normal summer storm in my area. Thankful no issues, and sending good vibes to those affected.

Overall pretty lucky, lost some roof tiles and got some leaks, trees down all around town in Bradenton. I had to keep the Z outside so my wife’s Tesla could go in garage (normally I keep the Z in the garage), the Z came out unscathed

Not to hijack your thread sir, but does anyone in the Tampa Bay area want to help a fellow Z brother replace the CSC while the weather is cooling down?

I heard Bradenton got hit harder than Tampa, and what's crazy is that Bradenton is maybe 45 minutes away from where I'm at and it's night and day on the impacts.

South FL just got a tease, It was pretty surreal to see some of the west coast under water. That would have ****** south FL if it hit the same way.

Mom mom lived in New Port Ritchie for 40+ years and she used to brag about how they were in a little “cocoon”. All models showed them taking a direct hit, until it didn’t. Glad youse guys are safe.

Apparently, the last time Tampa took a hit from a hurricane was in 1921, and even then, that was more so the Tarpon Springs area, which is about 30 min away from Tampa and about 10 min away from New Port R.

What amazes me is how fast Ian developed and into nearly a Cat 5, considering it started as a trop. dep. right above South America. Most of the destructive hurricanes typically start off the coast of Africa and make its way over.

We have a place in Arcadia. We have not been down there yet. From the pictures, Awnings down, broken, living room ceiling partially collapsed. some broken windows. Trailer is mostly intact. Tree on neighbor's house to the right.
On the FEMA website now. Looks like a war zone.

Sounds like this is a secondary/vacay home, and glad to hear that your primary residence is still good. Still a headache you most likely have to go through for the FL home, and wish you the best man!

Though I always take the media with a grain of salt, it's been reported that most of the hurricane victims do not have hurricane flood insurance:

Lost power, no damage, that was about it. Consider myself very fortunate all things considered.

Feel terrible for those who lost everything due to flooding.

I don't know when I will get down there to have a look, let alone fix something . Crazy busy and work and MIL had a stroke/ and will be in assisted living soon.
Anyone know of an appraiser in the Punta Gorda area?
