For those that are an "exempt" and salaried position, I'm just curious on this would work. So my understanding is regardless of how little/many hours I work, I get paid the same and with no OT. If I start a new job in the middle of the pay cycle, does this mean I still get the full pay even if working 4 days of the current pay cycle, or would they prorate?

It all depends on the company. The one company. You got paid for 50 hrs a week even if you only worked 40 hrs. And you got OT for anything over 50 hrs. Other companies, you get paid for 40 hrs and that's it.

Makes sense. Just trying to calculate my finances with the job transition. I'm really hoping they pay me the full salary (and not prorated) even though I'll be starting on the back-end of that pay cycle.

I'm pretty certain my current broker won't pay me any of my commission on deals that don't close AFTER parting ways, even though everything is done and all that is left is the actual closing itself.

Like Rusty said, It depends on the company. It would be above and beyond if they paid you for days not worked to start but you never know.

I would plan on NOT getting paid so it would be a nice little.windfall if they did pay you.

My only experience with a salaried job didn't work out well. Never worked less than 45 hours a week.

I did have a job that had a 4 day work week. 10 hour days Tuesday thru Friday. Sat, sun, mon. Off. The job sucked but I loved 3 day weekends.

It DOES have paddles. I’m trying different things to get used to them. Mostly lazy boring driving though so far. I don’t want to be a headline. Lol

I'm still trying to figure out how they plan on building a railroad from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean.

I'm used to working 80 hours a week (many 16-hour days and even working on my day off), and through midnight many days with my current brokerage. So working up to 50 hours/week at the new gig is quite a relief.

I've even thought about saying eff it and not going back at all and taking the rest of the week off.
