Think of it like brazing or gas welding. Instead of of a gas flame. You have an electric flame (arc). Once you get your puddle started, dip the end of the rod in. Lots of video's to show you how on you tube. The main thing to remember is joint prep. It's got to be clean. Welding steels is with DC. Welding aluminum is with A/C. If you want to weld aluminum, you GOT to get a machine that has both DC, and A/C. For most applications. Argon gas will work. Helium is more $$. On some metals. A mixture of Ar/H or Ar/He is used. Tip shape is another important thing. Different shapes will give you different arc's for penetration, plus for different size of wire. For welding aluminum, you wiil use a ball shape. Everything else is a V shape. Some with a flat point.

Disc in the rain was enthralling

Waited a good 15 min after arrival at the course for the lightning to stop. Watched several groups walk off the course. Found it humorous that we were just getting going as one group was packing up their cars and leaving :)

Lunch at the park pavilion with some other friends after disc was also very enjoyable. Think a little more work on the M3 is in order this afternoon.

Drove the Z out to the lake and cleaned up the boat some. Replaced the torn boat cover with a new one. Can’t wait for summer!

Bought these side marker lights from China ($23.00 shipped). Gloss black trim ring and lens face, smoked "Z". The Z lights up (blinks), just the opposite of the stock side markers.

Work on the M3 is slow but making progress. Basically every part I remove has 170K miles on it and is in one of 3 conditions: breaks upon removal, easier to buy new than try to reuse, giant piece of metal that just needs some cleanup.

Another order of a single part ($50 wheel bearing) scope creeps into a $400 order. Half of that is so I don't have to press out the bearing and the driver axle flange from the old trailing arm. It'll be much easier to press in new parts into the new arm. SS brake lines are also on order but probably won't ship this month :/
