That hyper-infectious strain from Britain is running rampant here. We're basically not going out in public until we get vaxxed.

My Dad's wife sister is in ICU in Augusta. That whole family got it at Christmas because they were dis-believers and didn't wear masks. Thank goodness my Dad and wife stayed home.

yep. we got swamped two weeks after thanksgiving and now after Christmas. People seem to be unable to change a little bit, even if it potentially kills family members. There have been people that are dying of it swear it must be lung cancer or something because covid doesnt exist. :shakes head:

Makes sense. Nanny state nannies so much that everyone ends up tuning it out. What else could one expect from the state that warns consumers not to eat fish hooks because they contain lead...

:hello: Hey Spoiler,
Spoke with my Dad yesterday about the Black Phantom bicycle by Schwinn & he said it was the year 50 or 51, as he was delivering telegrams for Western Union.
He made payments on the bike until it was paid for....$83 & change
I’m sure that was a pile back then :ugh2:
Also said it was Black & Red w/chrome fenders & leather seat.
Said he installed a speedometer on it & put over 1,000mi. on that bike.
:tiphat:

jchammond 01-15-2021 03:33 AM

My favorite bicycle that I remember getting, came from a hardware store in West Columbia....I was around 12-13, and errbody was getting or had 10sp. bikes at that time.
But this one was a 12 Speed :yum:
Frame was a tad bigger & a little fatter tires
My best friend persuaded his parents & got the same identical one :iagree:
Had some good times riding those bikes

Wow... delivering telegrams. Haven’t heard of that job for a kid. Most kids back then were delivering papers or selling ice cream bars.

And $83 would probably Be like a $1000 in todays money

Good story

Well lets see, candy bars were a nickel... multiplied by todays price of $1 and carry the two and the square root of pi minus one apple... should be X amount of todays dollars!

Good morning everyone :hello:

I had two paper routes starting at 11yrs of age. A small county paper route where I made about $6 a week, then a Detroit News route at about $14 a week. I was the richest kid in the neighborhood :rofl2: Peddled papers until I was able to land a job at a gas station pumping gas.

Worked my entire life until I retired and never received any unemployment benefits.

That is a Datsun 280z 1977 or a 1978 model. I would need to see the decklid to see if it was a 5 speed. If so, it would be a 1978.

Anybody got anything you want me to bid on for you?

PM me your credit card number and I will make it happen...

(Spoiler... making dreams come true for 61 years...)

Though it is nice to buy the right deal, I would rather build something with my kid.
1970GTO 400/4speed on the rotisserie right now. OPGI parts that took 6 weeks to get here arrived yesterday. That was MY christmas present.

Looking to buy a new welder. I was going to get a Hobart 210 ($999) but Tractor Supply has the Hobart 190 for $699. The only difference to me is the 210 will do 3/8" and the 190 will do 5/16". For a $300 difference, I don't know if that extra 1/16" is going to do anything for me. Anybody have any experience with Hobart?
