Like I said I do not condone the manner how he was treated while conducting what should have been a lawful arrest. No human being deserves to die or be killed in such manner. Justice is being served rightfully. Due process is being served.

But to use GF death to instigate civil unrest, looting and burning of business establishments , promoting hatred and violence to other men in uniform and victimizing peace loving citizen is utterly a disgrace and equally deserving the punishment of the law.

Did you empathize to the business owners who's stores got looted and destroyed...To the people who got hurt and injured during the riot?

Did you see or hear as well the cry of these people calling for mercy or even their call for their late mother as their livelihood got burned and looted...or you see them just another victim of the preceding circumstances ..obviously It didn’t capture your attention as much as it doest merit such big spectacle as the event you empathized!

Those that want to burn and loot are part of the problem as much as the lack of action amongst those that watch bad peoples do bad things and do nothing.

I’ll take saving a life over saving a business everyday of the week.

Justice is being served rightfully? Due process is being served? Both were FORCED to happen due to video.

How many videos do you need to see of those in uniform, paid by citizens, threatening and attacking those that are not doing any of the things that you laid out?

Since his comments were in a thread about the looting currently going on in many cities, I fail to see how using "GF" is anything but a typing shortcut. But I can't see into his head so it is possible that he was being "disingenuous." Going by his previous posts, I'm guessing not.

Just to play The Devil's Advocate: Why didn't you chide him for using "MLK"? At this point in time, Mr. Floyd is just as famous as Mr. King.

We have a street in my town the was renamed to MLK. I still refer to the street by it's old name. Not because I don't think that Mr. King deserves to have a street named after him but because I knew the street by its old name for about 40 years and it is firmly implanted in my brain as such.

We also have a street named after Robt. E. Lee*. If they change the name, as some want to do, I will continue to call it REL. Not because I think Mr. Lee deserves to have a street named after him, but because that's what I've known it as for 60+ years.

Maybe he didn't comment on your other points because he agreed with them. Maybe not. Once again, I can't see into his head but, based on his prev posts, I'm willing to go with the former until I see different.

Granting GF a day to memorialize him on the same day as MLK, is a disservice to what MLK had done and what he stood for.
GF did not deserve to die for whatever crime he committed, and those responsible for his death certainly need to be held accountable. However, GF was NOT an angel. If you think he needs to be put onto a pedestal, ask the lady he held at gun point while she was robbed if she feels the same way. My memory isnt the greatest these days, but Im fairly certain that the great MLK never committed any crimes even remotely close to that.

So far, I haven't seen anybody say anything that even remotely indicated that they did not value all lives. Just because somebody doesn't think a particular person deserves a holiday named after them doesn't mean they don't value that person's life - just that they are not the extra-special type of person that does deserve it.

Sure, more than a decade prior, Floyd was a drug addict, and an *******. He also did his time, and there is ample evidence he turned his life around afterwards, and spoke articulately on the subject advising other people to avoid his poor life choices.

Yet methamphetamine and fentanyl were found in his system during the autopsy. Looks like he was still making poor life choices.

This is the stuff that clouds our ability to have a cogent conversation about the inhumanity of humans against other humans. The fact is that prejudice and bias is in human DNA. It occurs in all cultures throughout the world. In many cultures it acceptable right, wrong or indifferent however in America through our journey we have proclaimed that all are created equal and should be treated as such. The treatment of Blacks as second class citizens or as animals is steeped in our history regardless of a single person's behavior. Black people continue to be treated less than in this great country and our continuing struggle together is to narrow that gap for all citizens. The reality is that as much as try there always will be the have and have nots. How we decided to live together share resources, appreciate what each culture or race has to offer the better we will thrive together. George Floyd may not be extra ordinary but his death is in what it represents to the senseless killings of people of color that continues today.

I appreciate the conversation and all the points of view and prospectives by you all that willing to speak up and try to understand it all. It is difficult for me as well as Black person that has experienced bias, prejudice and great love and support from White people and others. It is what breaks my heart and gives me hope! DON'T STOP TALKING as it has lead to this!!! We have given up to degree because it is hard, we have given up because we think enough has been done, we have given up because Blacks will never be satisfied, we have given up because some Blacks have taken advantage of whatever.

We must not give in to all the noise that surrounds the conversation of how do we continue to struggle and strive to be better together.

Nope, I just didn't know drug use equal public execution. If that is the case, can we at least apply the force equally to the other drug users of other color. Heck, let's make sure we take out all drug users, I am sick of weed heads talking about how wonderful weed is.

We keep letting these police brutality escalate, the more of these videos/protests/riots we are going to see. This is not just about color either (although the people of color are more impacted by it for sure), but the escalation has got to stop. On the other hand, tougher punishments for the offenders would help too. Why are we being nice to people who keeps more of the same?

This will burn out after another week or two, but it won't take long before it happens again. Matter of fact, it is bound to happen. The wealth gap is going to get even bigger after this virus. The country's leadership is poor. The media is driving people to the extreme either way. We are so screwed.

The Chicago mayor is begging Walmart and other large retailers not to leave. Walmart is deciding which stores not to reopen at the moment. A few of the other retailers told her that there is a good chance that they will not reopen some stores too because of the riots, and that she did nothing to protect the stores. They can't operate in that type of environment.

Its ok Rusty no life would perish due to Walmart deciding not to reopen. Life would be saved!

Now Former employees of Walmart good citizens, good tax payers ... will join the numbers of unemployment ....would suffer and default in paying their rent ...paying thier cars.... paying credit cards.... no xmas toys for their kids this year....would probably resort to petty crimes to survive...a good citizen who eventually turn into an animal...,and the cycle goes on....

Reading through all of this, can't quote it all.

Every life is precious, I'm a God loving man, I don't think He would put a life on this earth without reason. I'm only 29, but I've realized everything happens for a reason, good or bad, whether we know that reason is on us. We either have to come to a understanding and if we don't then it's a friendly reminder that we are only human. As humans we are flawed, we never will be perfect yet we constantly strive for perfection. Noah's ark, Adam and Eve, The Tower of Bable, Worshipping the golden calf heck the list goes on how humans can turn on a dime when it comes to good/bad, right/wrong etc. He did not deserve to die like that, nor does he deserve to be glorified and have a day named after him etc. You want a day named after you? Earn it. His death is sad and I hope he's in a better place and I hope God gives his family the strength needed to get through this life.

Perspective

Look at what's happening in parts of Africa how the "white man" is getting there farmland stripped of them due to their skin color. Where's the white lives matter march? In China, Chinese Muslims (Urumqi region) are beign slaughtered and "re educated" by the thousands. Where's the Muslim Chinese lives matter march? Funny thing (due to hypocrisy) is that some Muslims are always foaming at the mouth about Palestine this and Palestine that... Apparently only ARAB MUSLIM lives matter. . . But when it comes to Chinese Muslims, no one gives a rats ***, no one Muslim nation is standing up to China about. Why? Because China is the cash man, and who doesn't love cash?

Look at Pakistan. Always talking about how India treats its 200 million Muslim MINORITY like crap. Yeah, sure. That's why India had a Muslim President. Never seen a non Muslim president/high ranking official in Pakistan that wasn't a Muslim. . . Where is Pakistan's Prime Minister ridiculing China's approach to their Muslim minority? He won't talk down to them because China is funding Pakistani projects and giving them massive loans, which by the way, will crush them.

The basis here is, all lives matter, we should not pick and choose, we should stand against injustice no matter who it is against. When we pick and choose, it makes the movement, in my eyes, weak because it's focusing on a certain group.

It baffles me how idiotic some people are, it really does. My aunt is Vietnamese and tells me the horrors of communism. How it took her fathers hotel businesses, stripped them of everything, and forced them to flee. They had to go on a boat and travel to Thailand. Her sister was on another boat during a storm while fleeing, it sunk. . . took may lives with it. Communism does not work. This is what you get with identity politics. As far as racism goes, I was a white minority in my NJ High School. Racism goes both ways. I’ve lived it, yet never thought about destroying someone else’s property.

There’s a guy who likes to tell racist jokes to the staff and some members of my golf club. He actually thinks that he’s not a racist because he tips well and “is only joking around”. He has no idea how much they despise him.

So, bottom line is racists exist, and I’m afraid always will. It’s taught. Nobody comes out of the womb hating someone because of their skin color.

I don't disagree with anything you have said about racism, but conversation for Blacks is much greater than racism in the way you describe. It is magnified by being oppressed, marginalized and treated as inhuman. Do you ever see pictures of non-Blacks depicted as animals. Blacks are often depicted as monkeys and Apes. I understand your point and do not condone racism Black on White or White on Black, that said a White person can change their geography and said racism goes away it is not so for Black person. Furthermore White people have access to jobs, wealth and opportunity for success at a much hire rate than Blacks. Yes, many of us are more successful today than ever and access to many things have widen be we are still no where near being equal. Just take a look at Motorsports to keep it real. How many Black drivers do you know that are racing at the highest level? There isn't a shortage of outstanding Black drivers just access to sponsors. Of the Black drivers that are running at the the highest levels not one of them is of dark skin. Oh yes if even within the Black race here in America and many other countries Blacks with lighter skin are shown more favor and is a cause of inter-racial prejudice as well. But I digress, the conversation cannot be just about prejudice without understanding, grasping and owning our history and how all of it born out what we are experiencing today. We can't just say get over it that happened 300 years ago or that the 1968 Civil Rights Movement are enough. We need to continue to reconcile our past and present and continue to struggle forward.
