This is why I never have a plan to begin with. Just start the project and see where it goes. I don't want to texture and paint my living room wall (from lighting and speaker installation) and just have to rework it down the line. So in a few years when I'm ready to spend the money and do the work, I'll tear out the fireplace surround, tile the wall and add built-in cabinets on the side. Or maybe I'll do something else

You probably don't have the luxury of leaving parts of the house under partial construction for years at a time ;)

madwi 04-27-2020 08:45 AM

I set up the cleaning crap on the work bench. One step closer to actually doing the work. :icon17:

In lieu of waxing the Lexus, I cleaned out the china cabinet and boxed everything up for storage. Will be a nice chunk of space recovered. Also, took down the mirror in the formal living room and put up my COTA flag :D

madwi 04-27-2020 08:46 AM

Ordered case of oil and a filter.

Very nice. I want to remodel the basement in the worst way but I know It'll never be done before July so I better not start yet. :rofl2:

JARblue 04-27-2020 08:51 AM

Next step is to clear out the buffet. The silver and crystal are going into storage. I'm going to use the buffet for additional misc kitchen storage. Also need to put away the extra leaves on the dining table (don't really need seating for 12 right now).

That should really open up the space for more car part storage! :rofl2:

Was finally productive yesterday. Installed a 3 node mesh Wifi. A little overkill for a >700 sqft apartment...but it works great.
Almost finished one side of my vert. top fix. Just have to bolt down a strap behind the rear finisher. The other side is 1/4 the way done, so I SHOULD be done with this stupid project today. Between the P1606 and this current project, Ive been keeping the milage down on the Z...lol

I do one project at a time. Hate having a bunch of stuff undone. Then it will never get finished.

I love my 3 node google mesh setup. It is blazing fast all the way out in the detached garage ~95 ft away from the house. One router in basement, attached garage and then detached garage. Works great.

I was looking at boats on craigslist yesterday. Mentioned to the gf that I want a boat. Her response: Sure... only after you finish your car, clean out the garage, change the stuff on my car like you said (motor mounts, trans mount, brakes), and finish putting up the shelves, then you can get one....only if you can find a place to store it...

I guess no boat for me.. :wtf2:

Hmm... I never thought about putting a node in the garage. Its about 75ft away. I think Ill try this today, so I can stay on top of my emails while I finsih my Z.

How configurable is the google mesh? I got the Linksys Velos, its EXTREMELY basic. I get about 95-100% of my subscibed speed... Really surprised because Im in a saturated area.

I have a Sonicwall NSA router that I re-purposed from work..lol
I thought the board/ports were fried when we had a power surge at work, but it was just the settings/firmware that got screwed up. Thats just another project to procrastinate on. :excited:

JARblue 04-27-2020 09:12 AM

I really don't need these, but I went ahead and picked up a set for my google wi-fi. The pro version mounts behind the wall plate - the non-pro version is $5 cheaper for a set of 3 and uses the plug itself to secure.

8K source options are extremely limited and will be for a while. Those TVs will come way down in price before 8K stuff becomes more available.

I remember going to Frys Electronics and seeing a 42" Plasma Tv when they first came out. 10k bucks :icon14:

i do have 4k and HDR on my current tv. its not sonys top model but upper mid level.

i def want 8K for the new xbox coming out in november but honestly an 85: 8K tv is $9000 right now. even a year out they wont drop much and like JAR said there isnt anything even in 8K right now. we are probably 2 yearso ut before 8K is even semi-available in many games/movies.

JARblue 04-27-2020 09:46 AM

They still have $10K plasma screen TVs... they're just bigger now.

i still kinda miss my 52" plasma.

games always looked good on it.

current TV is pretty amazing all around.

i did get a kick out of the main con in reviews is poor viewing angle but i can legit stand on the side at almost 90 degrees and still see the picture lol

think that was a false piece of info.

FPenvy 04-27-2020 09:53 AM

also, for reference i;m looking at the XBR85X950G model

sony 950G 85"

current tv is the sony 850F 75" i think F is my model year. maybe E.

Reviews paid for by their comptetition? lol

Im not much of a videophile or audiophile. As long as its a clear picture, its big enough, and I can hear the sounds, Im happy. I have a 50" off brand fireTv. Ive had a ps4 and 15 games for about 3 years now and only played it maybe a total of 20 hours..

bigger is always better hence why i wanna move up to a 85 over my 75 lol

i probably put 6-8 hours of gaming in a day :wtf2:

i have a decent sound bar and subwoofer think it was like $400 when i got it. kinda want to move up to surround sound setup but havent made that jump yet.

Leingod 04-27-2020 10:00 AM

Did my monthly shopping at the store last night. $244 later I got a 6 pound pork loin, a whole salmon, a few whole chickens, big piece of eye round, primal cut of sirloin, and 5 pounds of ground beef. Plus a bunch of other stuff.

Now I am going to try making black garlic, ferment ginger and garlic into a paste, make some pickled red onions, and see what else I can come up with.

Bigger is def not a negative. But I have a small living room and the couch is probably 8 ft away from the TV, and if I had a sound system, Id get kicked out of my apartment..lol
How the heck do you find time to put in for playing that much??
You should get a job as a video game tester. My cousing did that when PC games were huge.

Many years ago, I found a website that had audio files teaching Gaelic for free. Pretty intense with about 75 lessons. I got to the pont where I think I could have carried on a simple conversation. Unfortunatly I couldnt find anyone to practice with.. :rofl2:
