Morning people! Time for some covefe to get my brain going. Glad to say my CEO has given me very positive feedback on my handling of the new role so far, and that's a big relief.

Russ, hope your day is a bit better than the last few have been.

Zingston 05-12-2020 06:38 AM

Morning all... chilly start today (59*) with a high of 78*. I'll take it!!! ;)

Be sure to do as Rusty says & clean hole good with flapper wheel or something, as they have a glue/epoxy residue on them

Yeah. Even the SPL install instructions say to expect some aluminum to shave off due to the oval hole. Got a dremel at the ready.

Think something like this would do?

It was expensive because it is a sucky job that takes a while. The one job you would be better off paying someone else to do you nut up. Go figure. Kinda backwards.

Idk... I just bought an 1100 ft lb impact wrench. Might as well put it to use. And $150 for a press/pull kit seems like a reasonable investment since I'm saving some labor costs. Maybe I'll just see if I can get a couple more quotes for the work.

Leingod 05-12-2020 07:43 AM

Rusty, really hope your streak turns around soon. Sorry it's been such a crappy week for you. I'll have a drink for you tonight.

The rear suspension inner bushings have to be cut out with a hole saw. Then use a hacksaw to cut the outer shell in 2 places. Then tap the outer shell out. I used a ball joint press to press the new SPL bearings into place. Everything is in my threads.

Did anyone hear something?

Rusty 05-12-2020 08:08 AM

:hello:

I'z up.

Nice bright sunny day. 44F now, going up to 54F. Tonight is the last cold night. Then it's in the 70's.

Just got off the phone with the repair shop. Basically what happened.
Bearings going bad in the fan hub. Allowing the fan to move around. Chewed through belt.

Replaced belt. Didn't know that the bearings are going bad.

Bearings failed later. Letting the fan to chew into intercooler. Fan blades broke and took out the bottom radiator tank. And ripping the wiring out from the ecu controller. The damage to the intercooler and radiator is bad enough to warrant replacement, not repair.

The renters muddy everything up as they still wanted to go to the beach. They wants the shop to overnight the parts, and that would have cost another $650. Wife put a stop to that. So the renters are out of the picture now.

Gas cap? My Honda dropped an evap code and it turned out to be a small leak at the top of the gas tank where the pump goes. Pain in my azz.....:shakes head:
