Wifey is a radiologist specializing in breast imaging, so she doesn’t come into constant contacts with others unlike ER docs. We are lucky on that.

I work in a cardiology clinic and some of our Drs also work in the hospital. One of the receptionists at one of our remote sites said they've been asking for masks (we have them at our main office but not at the remotes). She said theyll walk out of they dont get them. I understand keeping a sense of calm... but comon, everyone knows what's going on and they need to protect the workers

Couldn't find the nice thermometer I got when I had heart surgery but did find an old 12" lab thermo out in the garage. Says my temp is 99F. :) For now, I'm diagnosing allergies and not something more serious. Still going to stay isolated for a few days, just in case. Called the housekeeper and told her to stay away.

Did you put bubble gum on the end of that thermometer before you inserted it rectally? If you didn't chew on the bubble gum. Then it wasn't deep enough. So then you got a bad reading.

Some light hearted humour in an essentially sh1tty situation:

**************************
Due to the current upset situation caused by the Corona Virus in the
economy, the Government has decided to implement a scheme to put
workers of 50 years of age and above on early, mandatory retirement,
thus creating jobs and reducing unemployment.

This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).

Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to the Government to be
considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help After Forced
Termination).

Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the
SCREW program (System Covering Retired-Early Workers).

A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as
the Government deems appropriate.

Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for
Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel
Early Severance).

Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or
SCREWED any further by the Government.

Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much sh1t
(Special High Intensity Training) as possible. The Government has
always prided themselves on the amount of sh1t they give our citizens.

Should you feel that you do not receive enough sh1t, please bring this
to the attention of your Congressman, who has been trained to give you
all the sh1t you can handle.

Sincerely,
The Committee for Economic Value of Individual Lives (E.V.I.L.)

PS - Due to recent budget cuts as well as current market conditions,
The Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off.

Get well SouthArk. Try drinking hot water fresh lemon juice sweetened by raw honey! It works to clear your throat and improve your immune system.

Update us of your condition. Said a little prayer for you. Even majority doest believe in it anymore.

I have quite a bit of honey in my pantry (very long shelf life) but no lemons or lemon juice. :( Coffee with a big dollop of hazelnut liqueur seems to help. :)

I'm doing fine (considering). Throat is still scratchy but no worse than yesterday. Nose is running a little more this AM but still no fever. :)

I describe myself as somewhere between an Atheist and a Deist. But, hey, prayer can't hurt. Thanks.

I've always felt that if I'm going to make a deal with some form of superior being, I gotta keep it realistic. Worst thing you can do is overpromise something to an omnipotent being. They'll deny your request before you even finish it.

My prayers are typically in the form of, "God if you do ______, I'll flush the toilet next time I'm in a public bathroom" or "God if you do ______, I will try to not get angry at the next customer service rep I speak to on the phone." You know, try and keep it within the realm of reason ;)

Well, making a deal with God isnt exactly encouraged, but desperate times calls for desperate measures.

I've never been in a foxhole, so I don't even know what desperate is. I was thinking more like praying for a made field goal or traffic to clear up or something :)

Never been in a foxhole either, but there was the time my brand new Harley Geezer Glide developed a “wobble” at 65 MPH on my way home. Talk about puckering up! 💩🤬

Never been in a foxhole but you've been in plenty of manholes... either a sewer worker, or in the Navy.

China is already preparing for the 2nd wave of the virus to hit. They are talking about all the people coming back into China from hard hit countries with the virus. Bringing it back with them. They are already blaming these countries for the 2nd wave.

You don’t think there are some in China who are blaming the west for the first wave? :rofl2:

Chinese are typically obedient people (they may not want to be, but they mostly know what the consequences of not doing as the government instructs can be). So when they are locked in their homes for 7+ weeks for the greater good, they accept it. They don’t congregate on beaches or in pubs. And when they come out of 2 months forced hibernation, they will know better than to allow it to come back through carelessness. Or to permit foreigners to bring it in. I’m not sure we are that smart.

China will be back on its feet while we on this continent continue to make mistake after mistake (as we already have in the nearly 3 months that our governments and their scientific advisors have known about the disease) in addressing this. By delaying as long as we have done, not having a decisive and consistent response, and pondering a return to business as usual far to soon, we will be allowing the Chinese tiger to become the undisputed largest economy in the world on the back side of this crisis.

China is trying to spin this anyway they can do make their self look good. They blamed the US Army for it. They blamed Italy for it. Who's next? China said that they are helping out other countries hit with the virus. Problem is that they are charging these countries for the medical supplies. People think they are doing it for free. China sold Croatia and other countries test kits and other medical supplies. Most of it didn't work. You don't think that this chit isn't coming back and biting them in the azz. Companies were already planning to move out of China to begin with. This will only speed up the process. The supply lines are moving out of China. Companies realized that they have put all of their eggs in one basket, and it got crushed.

The truth is slowly coming out of China. Families have to wait for hours to pick up family members who have been cremated. Stacks of urns sitting outside of funeral home.

That doesn’t even begin to describe the some real nightmares that I’ve read/heard.

Knew China’s count was fake even when they were reporting it. Now China just stops reporting it entirely.

One thing CCP had been real successful at....keeping international focus on Wuhan, not many are questioning infections in other major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, etc.

China’s current tally is around 80k infected total....yea....sure....almost....just missing a zero or two lol

bunk 03-28-2020 07:43 AM

I guess there are 8 strains of the virus. The west cost has the closest strain from Wuhan, with our ground zero being Washington state, and as you go east, its mutated several times.

I spoke to one of our Cardiologists yesterday. He was pretty optimistic about this pandemic. He got a little carried away when we were talking, so I didnt understand half the terminology that he used..lol

SouthArk370Z 03-28-2020 07:49 AM

My daughter, her roommate, and my buddy were showing some symptoms - but no fever. All were told to wait 72 hrs - if symptoms got worse or they developed a fever, then they would be tested for nCoV.

I still have a scratchy throat but the sinuses are getting a little better. Still no fever.

All four of us have had minor allergy problems during pollen season but none us of have ever had it this bad. I'm wondering if we might have relatively minor cases of nCoV. Or maybe it's just that the pollen is worse this year.

Maybe both. These different strains act and affect people differently. Theres definitely a strain that hits HARD though.
