Just got around to reading JB the Hutt's 'stay at home' order. He lied. Shocking for an Illinois governor; I know.

At the press conference announcing the order, he specifically said he asked, not ordered, Illinoisians to stay at home. The order, however, specifically commands us to not leave our homes except for the circumstances delineated in said order.

I, and other attorneys I have spoken to, are of the legal opinion that this order violates the 1st and 14th Amendments to our Constitution.

Forecast is a high of 59*F tomorrow. Looking forward to taking the Z out and exercising my Constitutional rights to assembly and travel.

So, let’s say going out for a drive for pleasure isn’t allowed. How would that be enforced?

My assumption is po po still need probable cause to pull you over. If you don’t break any traffic law, how would po po even find out you are just taking a hobby drive vs that of a necessary one?

Well that reminds me long time ago a patrol officer pulled me over and when could not find any traffic violation on me!

Thats bitch has no mother I swear!!!’

Since when do Illinois politicians abide by our Constitution?

The old standby is “we got a report of (insert crime here) and your car matches the description”.... Not that I know this personally, a friend told me! 🤪

LEO friend of my neighbor came by last week and told us if we wanted to speed, now is the time. Roads are empty and cops are busy. He said if we did get pulled over to just start coughing :icon17:

They would have to declare martial law.

My best friend is having a terrible year. His son died, one of his dogs ran off and came back with a broken hip, the fuel pump went out on his truck, and now he might be coronaed. :( Doctors say it might be "seasonal" (I assume that means a "regular" flu) but they are not sure at this point.

I haven't really discussed it with him since he feels very bad. I took him a CARE package earlier but I didn't hang around - "Here ya go. Bye." He'll probably get bored and call/text with details before too long. I'll relay what I find out.

I see him almost every day, so there's a good chance I've already got whatever he has. I may be able to tell you about it from a personal point of view in a few days. :(

Edit: He went downhill very fast. He was at my house on Tues and looked OK then. He went out of town with his wife on Wed and was very sick that afternoon.

Can you get tested?

Probably not. True story, a tech at my wife’s work was showing all the symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc), but symptoms weren’t severe enough, she was turned down for testing, told to self quarantine. This was 1.5 week ago though.

Other than being uber rich, celebrity or politician, or you show all symptoms, it takes a lot to get tested when the kits are still limited.

Hopefully the test kits become more available. How is the tech doing now?

She’s doing ok. Don’t think she’ll have life threatening development. She was certainly exposed (her brother came from out of state with symptoms, she took him to hospital, then she started feeling not well).

I've been reading stories and people from work saying that folks in th healthcare industry are being infected. May or may not be related to the industry, but I hope they take extra precautions. Hiw is your wife doing?

When I started to drive in the mid 70's. Price was around .35 for regular and .49 for Hi-Test. i can't remember the gar wars they had in the 60's. $3.00 to full up a 25 gallon tank. Prices dropped today in my area. 87 is 2.25, and 93 is 2.78.

Of course health care workers are being infected. It's a much higher risk occupation. My sister just quit her job, nurse in N. Carolina for 20 years at the same hospital. Inadequate protective equipment.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, I've heard stories of medical personnel bleaching masks and reusing them. Lowers the micron efficiency.

Just there is a spike of 35% for job posting in the health care field.

I do remember the .20 a gallon gas, I had to walk to the gas station to fill up the gas cans for the mower.

I don't know. I'm going to wait until they figure out what my buddy has before deciding. If he just has the flu, I won't ask to be tested. If he has nCoV, I'll ask.

Healthcare workers, even those in the front lines, don’t have adequate protection. Some nurses (my wife’s cousin included) in departments other than those highly dangerous area are told not to wear masks, and some even say wearing masks will be fired immediately for insubordination (even if mask is nurse’s own, not hospital stock).

Wifey is a radiologist specializing in breast imaging, so she doesn’t come into constant contacts with others unlike ER docs. We are lucky on that.
