We would sashimi yellowtail or YFT on my buddy's boat. Cant get any fresher than that..yummm

My youngest stepson has a 20ft bass boat. We would camp out at Lone Rock beach Lake Powell in Page Az. 6 of us in that boat for a morning fishing run of 4 hrs. We would come back to camp with enough fish for a couple days. You name it. We caught it. I brought fish back with me to last months. You ever seen a fish boil? Get out in one of the canyons and throw some bait in the water and just wait a little while. The fish would go crazy.

Yup! Fish boils, sea gulls... all signs of a good bite ahead.
One time and my buddy went to fish Mexican waters... nothing for hours. Decided to head back to San Diego for rock fish. We see a small kelp paddie, we go up to it. Toss a sardine and BAM! It was gone the moment it hit the water. Nonstop yellow tail until we got our limits. I ended up with 5 landed 35lbs being the biggest. I "lost" another 15.

On a party boat out of San Diego we found a school of YFT. Nonstop for 5 hours. YFT mahi mahi skipjack blue fin tuna. The boat had to stop before we entered the harbor for 3 hours. So much fish that the deck hands had their hands full cleaning that many fish.

We was on Lake Powell in Utah. Just a couple of miles down river from Bullfrog. There was this one canyon that we would go to. Park the boat about 30 yards from the face of the canyon wall. With the wall being in the shade. Using anchovies for bait. Cast into the wall. Letting your hook hit the wall and letting it sink for about 30 seconds. Then start to reel it in slowly. Got a fish everytime. :tup: My boy has a picture of wifey and me with both our hooks in the mouth of one stripper. :rofl2:

My biggest concern at the moment of eating something that was prepared by another is what if that person is infected and doesn't know it?

But then again, tomorrow is my "cheat" day so I will be hitting up frozen dairy of some sort.

I don't have a boat or kayak, so it's all shore fishing for me, which all the fishing piers are currently closed :mad:

that feeling of casting a net a few times for bait, and you pull up a sh!tload of greenbacks/pinfish.....goodbye fishing, I hardly knew ye....:shakes head:

Depends on which coast of Florida you are fishing. The Gulf of Mexico has it's share of nice fish, but the east coast of Florida (Atlantic Ocean) has way more variety and excitement IMO.

And I would imagine you would be carried away by a king mack on a kayak lol

Haha... that's awsome! With Calico bass we use plastics. Many times youll hook up a baby calico half the size of your plastic.. ambitious like fkers..lol

I finally got Jumanji 2 (or is it 3?) on DVD today (I didn't see it in theaters), and while watching, it hit me like a brick wall when I saw the 2 Danny's in a scene: "damn, i'm getting old".

I'm used to seeing Danny DeVito when he was in Batman Returns and Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon....:eek:

Gary Yamamoto stuff is pretty good. I dont do much fresh water bass fishing. I do like trolling for Striped bass though. Striped bass fish tacos are bomb! On freshwater, I mainly fish trout, catfish and occasional Crappie.

Sorry Rusty and no offense, but saltwater fishing > freshwater fishing :tup:

Thats not necessarily a bad thing. The fish will get tired faster. Ive been dragged around by a 3lb trout in my float tube...lol

Tbh though, nothing like fighting a 5lb trout on an ultralight rod using 1 or 2lb line!

I've done both. :tup: When ever the opportunity pops up. I'll go fishing, either salt or fresh. :tup: Ever do fly fishing? That's an art form.

I'm one of those that likes to hook and bring in ASAP lol too many times have I used a light test line and the line snaps and losing out on what I am assuming is a nice catch. I typically used a 60 lb braided test line, so unless it's a big@$$ shark, I ain't losing it.

I give respect to those that can master fly fishing. I tried it once, and didn't have the patience for it lol

For a Christmas present one year. My youngest stepson got me a guided fly fishing outing on the San Juan river in NM. We had a blast. :tup:

you just have to know how to use the drag and let the fish get tired! My salt water go to is 30lb braided with a 20lb flouro leader. Unless theres barracuda

That was the problem lol. I'm not used to casting with what feels like a paperclip as a weight and so much slack, and then it not going where I want it to go. It got ugly really quick :icon14:

And I've never purposely fished for squid, but did catch a small one while casting for bait. I never realized this, but those small black dots move around on them. Pretty fascinating.

lol..You have to match the rod and action with the line weight of the bait/lure youre using. I had to practice in the front yard for a while til I got the hang of casting with a casting reel.
Yeah, thats their camoflage. Their color pattern will match their environment. And they can change their pattern pretty fast!
When you pull up an angry giant squid (up to 20lbs), theyre red, sometimes flashing red. REALLY MAD and squirt ink all over the place We would have ink wars on the boat..lol
But when they die, they turn white.

My middle stepson hooked one when we was at Table Rock Lake in Branson. Told him if he tries to bring it into the boat. He's going to be joining it in the water. That was a pissed off snake too. :rofl2: I cut his line and let the snake go. That sucker went right for the boat. :eek: That snake got beat with paddle a few times. :rofl2:

Fly fishing....not so much my cup of tea. I cast, and the lure would go a completely different direction than what I intended (sometimes, the line wouldn't even go out at all). Then the line would get all tangled/snagged and I didn't know what was going on. I tried to reel and give the pole a little action, and the pole didn't seem to like this very much. I got :owned: by a damn fishing pole lol
