12 year old mind stuck in a 39 year old body here.

JARblue 03-11-2020 11:21 AM

So I just did some updates on my build spreadsheet. I'm not sure I should have :eekdance: Calculated that I've spent about $15K on aftermarket part purchases (not including consumables) over the years. Should have just gone boost :icon17:

abm89 03-11-2020 11:24 AM

Sounds about right. Probably a bit less for me if i ignore the exhaust setups i swapped multiple times. (or the multiple blown clutches)

33 year old that feels like 100000000000000000000. I've had a rough life....

Nope just double that and add another 5k! Let's put it this way. I have spent that much on my Z since I blew the motor and she is still a roller!

lol that boost comment was a complete joke. Because everything I spent is towards supporting mods for boost or a solid track upgrade. The only thing I probably wouldn't keep for a boost build is the Takeda intake. Probably hit $25K-30K pretty easy with one of the less expensive boost kits :ugh:

^^^THIS^^^

Most of us boosted guys are staring at $20k+ in the rear view mirror. I know I quit counting at $20k.

abm89 03-11-2020 12:16 PM

^^ this is why i'm still not boosted. I know too many people constantly pouring money into their car instead of driving it.

Now buying a car that is already boosted, that's different.

I'm around 11k myself. But that's with a lot of very careful shopping, and buying/reselling from part outs. I actually calculated it out yesterday. I'd be $25k in if I'd bought stuff new, and resold nothing.

i'm tempted. but no idea what to buy or when the bottom will actually hit.

i was listening to an infectious disease Dr. saying we have 7-13 more months of this thing.

so stocks could drop even further.

I think you're right to do this. I did buy a bit during the previous dips, but I think we've got a little more to go.

Buy Home Depot. No one will be taking vacations this spring/summer. Everyone will be @ home and pulling their home equity to do renovations/additions. Gardening stocks as well.

When the bottom hits, buy stuff that was good before. Visa, Amzn, JPM, Msft - chances are you can pick it up at a discount. It's like going back to 2016 stock prices.

The drop this week was mainly from the oil price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia (and coronavirus to an extent). The first drop in the market a week or two ago was from Coronavirus, but that lasted a weekend before the market recovered.
