Be damn careful with that fiberglass A-frame ladder. Mine failed on me yesterday, twisted into a helix and collapsed. I ended up dangling one-handed off a rafter tie 10 feet off the ground. Pretty sure my grip left an imprint on the 2x6..

I'm surprised to see a Werner collapse. One of the best ladders made.

I know my terminology of the components are probably wrong

But I’m gonna go ahead & build my own trusses & put them on top...just want to have at least the 16x16’ assembled & leveled before adding more weight. :ugh2:

The pitch is probably only gonna be around 4:12, as that’s what my front gable is....roof is 5:12 on house

You just want to make sure you have enough stiffness. That can be largely affected by the column connections. If you have a full moment connection at the foundation the upper portion can be lighter. If you have a weak connection then you need to stiffen the upper to resist the loading.

I didn’t think about this earlier but if you won’t have a foundation that is below the frost line, then it’s going to heave. I probably wouldn’t tie this into you’re existing house.
