No worries! I have a wee bit of a perfectionist streak, which is a bit of a time suck when you're learning something as you go along.

The pictures come up upside down because Tapatalk/Samsung is/are racist against lefties. Take a pic with left hand and phone thinks you're in Oz.

So much for a solid exit plan. The guy's insurance company wants to total the car and give me $6K for it. Leaving me with a $2500 balance on the loan :shakes head:

Leingod 12-30-2019 10:55 AM

Picked up an 8 pack of sample cigars. They're all really crappy types, but they were $10. The real reason was because the sample also comes with a very good travel humidor for an additional $5.

Now to figure out what kind of android tablet I want to get for myself.

Counter with $10k. You know insurance companies try to bend you over with the first offer....

Try Warfighter Tobacco. The cigars are good and they sometimes do a free travel humidor in a 6 cigar bundle.

Time to counter and tell them to pound salt. That's rediculous.

And this is why I always carry GAP insurance on all my cars.

Good luck,

I did. They basically told me they don't negotiate. I'm going to try and see if CarMax will work with me to get a written value based on the fact they've looked at it twice in the past year. That way I at least have something to use as reference.

Be sure to ask if they want a free bj with that. Then add that that'll be difficult. Because your neck is sore. From when their at-fault client slammed into your Fit azz.

That will set the tone for the negotiation.

It looks like you ended up with a usable work space, and learned a good bit in the process. I consider that a win.

Doc offered pain meds for my neck but I declined. Said to come in again this week if it's not feeling better.

Carmax basically confirmed the insurance offer. Private sale comps are few and far between due to the age/mileage combo and vary widely in price. Luckily, we just got paid today for the work at Ft. Belvoir a while back, so my cut will cover the remaining loan balance. Looks to be closer to $3100 for me up front because of some additional coverages on the car that were rolled into the loan. Hopefully I'll get $500-1000 refund from Honda Financial after all is said and done.

Motherfucking Coolerworx shifter stopped by today via FedEx. I say stopped by bc I was in the garage so they left a damn note.

Must be a new fedex guy. Nothing gets stolen off my porch. Everyone in this neighborhood knows that's a quick way to a long drop with a short rope.

Jar, sorry to hear you got slammed. Gotta watch them Prius drivers...

:wtf2:

As far as the insurance offer, their job is to settle as cheap and as fast as possible before you lawyer up.

You probably should go back and get the pain med prescription. You dont even need to get it filled, just get it. (You just want a record on file that you needed it...)

Certainly tell the State Farm person that their offer is not acceptable and that you will have to discuss this with a legal representative first, as well as you don't want to consider it anyway as you will still be getting medical treatments it appears. Tell them you appreciate talking to them and then just end the call professionally and politely. They will call you back within a few days with a better offer.

Spoiler....
