doesnt do much but sounds one notch louder honestly kinda disappointed its not more soooo yea i need more lol

i'm probably gonna have 4k in my exhaust. front half i'll buy new since no one has them nor sells them often if they do. back half gonna try and find used which usually runs 2k.

I actually have a GREAT neighbor I share my garage with. When they leave for the day, Ill pull my Passport alongside my garage when I work on the Z, blocking his side. Sometimes theyll come back, see that Im working and just offer to park their car across the street so that I have room to work.
Last weekend, I went to work on the Z at 8am, their car was gone. Neighbor comes along at around 11am, tells me that he moved his car out of the garage at 6am that morning because he knew Id be working in the garage that day...:tup:

Went to my old mechanic that specializes in suspensions and loaned me his SnapOn Ball Joint kit, but didnt have enough clearance to use it. He said that he would drop the subframe for me if needed.
Test fitted the diff with the not so flush bushing. I have about 2-3 wraps of stud thread past the top of the nut, so I thread locked it and torqued to spec. Re-bled the brakes, put everything back together, went to start her up... battery dead. GF left the ignition on after bleeding the brakes... AGAIN!!!
Picking up the battery from auto zone, do a shake down and a proper brake bedding. If everything checks out fine today, gonna DD her for a couple days to see if anything abnormal pops up.

I think I got like $200 back one time back in the 90s lol. Since then it has mostly been a few thousand out of pocket. This is the first year the few thousand has ever been in my favor. Although, to be frank, I'd rather the government keep their hands out of my paycheck each month

Sounds like a vacuum pump or power bleeder is in your future. Far cheaper than a battery :twocents:

Autozone battery charging is really cheap! lol
I have the Motive power bleeder with the aluminum cap, but the cap kept slipping off the reservoir filler. One of the plastic indents on the reservoir that keeps the cap on is pretty beat up.

I could care less about interior and exterior condition or gas mileage. And I rarely use heat or a/c; rather have the windows down. Looking for a truck that won't cost me a lot out of pocket. It looks to be well maintained mechanically, it's easy to work on myself, and parts are dirt cheap.

FPenvy 04-23-2019 12:22 PM

well today may get fun. just had to dig into a new guy a little bit. :shakes head:

It's on Craigslist and he mentions rust, beat up interior no ac and sketchy brakes. What could possibly go wrong?

Did he use the passenger door panel for target practice?

Ya, I wouldn't do it. His dad might have taken care of it, but doesnt mean the son did as well. With all the things wrong with it, it sounds as if the son neglected it. Brakes sketchy? Comon, that's pretty basic stuff to maintain...

JARblue 04-23-2019 01:12 PM

Brakes are just due for new pads and a flush (easy stuff). I may take a look at it first thing next week. With a friend. Wouldn't offer more than $2K or so.

I actually feel bad for cupcakez, dude has the worst luck and decision making I have seen in a while. I wanted to let him know he could get a script for valium or xanax easily since he is so high strung. :icon17:

Like I've said before, I get it, I've made some mistakes myself ;) But I don't keep making them. Once is never, twice is always.

bunk 04-23-2019 03:16 PM

Shakedown test was successful. Brakes feel solid, diff feels solid. No hop, pulls feel good. Funny thing is that now my transmission doesnt hunt for gears when I'm cruising between 25-45mph. Sticks to one gear until I need a different gear.

Imagine living a cupcakez life instead of just having a moment! Also, I was kind of afraid of the bushing being the same way for me, hence why I contacted Rusty. Sometimes wisdom is recognizing your limitations and finding experienced help!

It's all about the experience and lessons learned. If I didnt do this project I wouldn't know what to look for or be careful with. It applies to any future projects. If I had to do another bushing replacement, I'd be 100% confident and probably could do it by myself in a day.

bunk 04-23-2019 03:32 PM

Plus, I followed your build and it sounds like you drove right into doing mods yourself without much background.:tiphat:
