How long did it take you to get comfortable with it before you actually went to flying it.. you just hear all these horror stories about folks crashing..

When I first got it, my biggest fear was losing it. Before the phantom, my brother got me one of those toy drones that does flips, no gyro, cheap camera. Those were pretty hard to control when you lost the signal. But with the Phantom, just started off hovering and learning how to control it close by.
Maybe five minutes.. Furthest I flew it was like 1.5 miles. With the go home feature and safety settings, its no big deal. Just make sure you have the minimum height set (to avoid trees, power lines etc...) and you have your home point set.

what about software, im a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff, anything you recommend? im using a macbook pro

I forgot what software I used. Its on my old laptop. Ask the forum for free editing software. I didnt edit because I probably have ADD...so simple upload and back ground music was enough for me. haha
