Lein/EW check out AirBnB prices in the area. Wife and I did that last year, we ended up paying something like $50 per night for a really cool cabin in the woods by a stream.

FPenvy 01-17-2019 07:48 AM

Perfect. I'll let the gf do that. She loves airbnb things. Thanks for the idea!

Wife and I did it as a road trip. We stopped in Roanoke, VA on the way down and stayed the night there at an AirBnB. Plenty of stops for coffee. Picked some state parks to hike in a bit (rain made that tricky this past year). 11 hours in a stretch is rough, but if you break it up, it's a lot more manageable.

Breaks are key. Especially as I get older. Can’t sit in a car for 3-4 hrs straight like I could in my 20’s. Hiking would be a good stop to loosen up the back and hips.

Leingod 01-17-2019 08:01 AM

First things first. Interview time! Then I'll worry about registration and lodging.

How bad is the traffic getting to the events if we lodge outside of fontana?

traffic?

traffic there is if someone isnt going as fast as you can in front of you lol

but honestly depends on what side of Fontana you stay on. if its outside the dragon it kinda sucks having to do that to and from and cops are heavy anymore on it.

you will just have to drive the dragon everyday.

Traffic depends on if a semi decides to go down it, again.

I've been there twice, and stayed in Maryville both times, hotels, restaurants, everything you want or need. It's about an hour away from Fontana, great drive and about half of the drive is the Tail
