not a fan. this means the time is fast approaching where both cars will be wrapped up for winter then the no cars and its cold as balls depression will hit.

I don’t rule out making a cut in the future/ as either Nissan puts some kinda glue on outer shell or they slide the bushing in while paint is wet on cross member.
I’m gonna put together a setup that won’t fail,,,even though the cross member isn’t truly flat/ I’ll compensate for that.
Someone mentioned about “freezing” the new solid bushing before installation & probably would have helped for sure.

I got JL's out in less then 25 minutes. Took more time in getting the tools and sliding under the car then knocking it out. I used a 2" carbide tip hole saw to remove the center section.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Diablo-2...00CT/301697691

Then used my sawall to put 3 relief cuts in the outer shell. Next was my muffler pipe splitter tool on the air chisel. Next I used a 60grit flapper wheel to polish the inside of the hole to remove any burrs that may have been inside the hole.

The SPL bushings. I have put both of them in the freezer overnight. But they need to be in dry ice for best effect. JL's was poly and couldn't chill it. Pressing the poly in. I had to come up with something different because it wanted to squeeze out.

The hole on the frame isn't perfectly round either. From welding. It's egg shaped. When the factory installs the bushing. They might use boiled linseed oil. When wet, it's a lube, dries as lock tite.

The Z1 bushing remover tool takes too much time and energy. If you don't have a muffler tool. It might be you best option.

The bushing has 2 chambers that hold the silicone fluid. And it's under pressure. So when you start to cut. It will squirt some distance.

Not if the OEM ones already let the jelly filling out. That’s why I replaced mine.

It's not jelly. It's very liquidy. And will squirt about 4ft. It's under pressure.

Haha and as I learned from observation, it'll do it the moment you cut into the bushing. Rusty started his cut and the stuff immediately sprayed him, the exhaust, the ground, and anything else around.

Yeah we wasted more time screwing around with the Z1 tool than it actually took to remove the bushing using Rusty's alternate method.

Just got up from late night movie The Predator. Save your 2 hours, it was the worse movie of the year. This franchise need to die already. Cheese lines from the original movie, horrible acting and Olivia Munn needs to stop acting, period. Off work for the next 2 days.

I'm loving the cooler weather. Eastern side of the state still has a few more weeks of relative warmth though.

All it means is the car goes into storage end of Oct until middle of April and I find out if the thing is simply leaking oil or burning oil. I just haven't had the time to get under the car and look. Curious to see when the engine explodes considering it was 2.5 qts low before the last oil change.

i typically do nov-march but it all depends on when the first salt hits the road or temps. i remember the first or second year i had the Z i still had it out here and there until first week of december. it never snowed nor got that cold. think it hit 60 multiple times that nov/dec.

Snow doesn't melt here until early April at the earliest. Few years into May. I have a guy who needs all cars in by end of Oct. I'm not going to complain since he only charges $275 for the whole season.

damn. yea i've been golfing mid march for my bday, in shorts, and its 70 with snow still in the bunkers. it's very odd lol

typically we are done in march with some random bits in april. i just dont go back out until a big rain, or a few rains, to wash the salt away.

Rusty 09-24-2018 11:49 AM

Mine gets parked around Thanksgiving. And out around mid to late March.

lets put one in a car lol

i am goign to do the first 1/4 runs in the GTR mid october. there's 2 events im debating on which to do.

one is called grudement day and the other is a private track day.

kinda leaning towards the private track rental. $65 11a-4p unlimited runs with only 50 cars max i believe is the cut off.
