So I'm in school for computer engineering right now (just switched from mechanical engineering) and I have noooo idea where I ought to go work when I graduate :( I'd like to stay in/near Dallas, but it's so damn hot in the summer lmao. Also, the car scene isn't bad at all haha. But anyways, taxes don't completely suck here and I guess there's plenty of larger companies I could get a shot at working for?? I dunno :ugh2:

The Carolinas are becoming huge for a tech sector. Stay far away from NY and Cali. They're outrageous to live in and work for. Michigan isn't bad if you can handle brutal cold winters. Kansas is slowly getting better as well. Colorado is phenominal, but finding a gold job their can be very difficult.

I am looking all around the states now for a new palce. I cant handle the stupidly cold winters here, blazing hot summers, it being dark by 4:30 in the afternoon, the horrible taxes from the state, the retardedly high prices for a 1 story house, the lack of any decent car meets that aren't riced out civics, and the miserable people who grew up here realizing they should have left 80 years ago for some place less shitty.

Yea. Hence why I am skeptical. They're coming from Korea. If we think they're legit and in decent shape though, I'll be buying them in a heartbeat. Won't find a better deal for all 4 BB calipers anywhere.

I wasn't intending on NYCali; they're far too large for me. I'd never get noticed. I considered working overseas in Japan, though. That'd be pretty neat! The climate there is similar to the climate here, too, which is nice. I have a lot of thinking to do before I make any decisions like that, though :icon17:

Really depends.

1.) Sounds like you're taking a pay cut in hopes for a better future in a few years. If you don't have too many obligations (family/kids/mortgage/etc) and can make it work, it's worth considering. Just be sure this isn't "fluff" just to get you in the door for cheap and nothing comes to fruition. I took a slight pay cut the first year when I left my first job, but no regrets as it led to many new opportunities that have paid for itself ten fold.

2.) I would try and negotiate in other benefits such as more PTO days in place of salary. I wouldn't recommend taking a pay cut and cut in PTO days as well. You'll hate your life if it doesn't pan out.

3.) Unless you're one that loves routine and being in the office everyday, I wouldn't be concerned with the travel, assuming they'll provide a company car or reimburse your mileage. I, for one, like being out of the office. I like seeing new places, meeting new people and it helps me reset.

Yea. You basically hit the nail on the head. Pay raise would be about 5k more. But not enough for what they're asking. If they don't move from 45k upwards, i'd ask for at least an extra week of PTO.

The driving will really only bother me when it gets ugly here over the winter. We get blizzards and lake effect daily. Even I will get hesitant on the freeway when we have 7 feet of snow on the ground and black ice everywhere. Many of the locations they said are relatively far as well.

The promise of a better salary/title/future does sound promising. If it's true that is. Who knows with companies these days. They're small and rather family oriented with is a good thing. If I took the manager position, I would assume for it to open up many new doors down the road. That's a milestone accomplishment. Especially at my age.

I've just got a lot of options to weigh. Just scared of accepting and either being more miserable, traveling 24/7, or realizing it's a dead end job. It's tough around here as is finding IT positions.

Yeah, changing jobs is always tough man. I literally lost sleep for like a week contemplating my last move. Made a pro/con list, talked it through with my wife, crunched numbers, you name it. At the end of the day I was still unsure but made a leap of faith.

Small isn't always bad, especially if they're a solid company with consistent growth. Could lead to quicker advancement opportunities as you had stated.

Always leave on good terms (when possible) and stay in touch with your peers. Maybe one day you'll boomerang back, you never know!

I'd buy them for $600. Is any hardware needed for them? I just wanted someone with better knowledge to look at them and see if anything was wrong. I doubt I will ever see a lower price for them used.

Brakes are one thing that can get EXPENSIVE but really finish off a sweet looking ride.
